photozone.de review of Tokina 12-24 DX
vignetting.gif

At 12mm @ f/4 the lens shows very noticeable vignetting (~1.4EV) which will be visible in most scenes. At f/5.6 the problem is already largely reduced (~0.78EV) but stopping down a little further may be a good idea if required. At 18mm and 24mm vignetting is far less pronounced even at wide-open aperture. One stop down vignetting is already quite negligible here.

Similar to the distortion characteristic vignetting is again more intense on the D200 (1.5x crop) vs the EOS 350D (1.6x).

Wah Sell D300s + Tok 11-16 = D700.... can liao loh!!

nah, i think he will still keep the D300s as his backup or second body on assignments....:):)

Then have to spend additional 1.8k for the 16-35...

Isn't 24mm f/1.8 good enough for that range? I remembered you say is only a few steps back and forward? Or unless you're thinking about landscape shoots?

goodnight folks! Enough poisoning for one day!

I'm totally exhausted from sun-chasing and lack of sleep and badminton. I feel like crap now.
Rainy weather so nice to Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

Frankly, I'll forget about FF for now and concentrate on Lenses... D7000 a good consideration coz of its performance plus weather sealing and other cool features... but that will have to wait...

20mm to 24mm yes...

16mm no... that is UWA range... how can I not shoot landscape.... travesty. :nono:

So after one night of poisoning, which route have you decided on? Zooms or Primes? :) I think with a f/1.4, more light gets in - less chance of shakes...you gotta go NSC for a thorough test... Mid prime range, think no further than 85mm f/1.4 D... lotsa letting-go at the BnS now... There's one selling at 1.3K right now! Latest AF-S version, killer price above 2K... image quality wise not that a big difference...

i will go to NSC to try out the prime and the zoom again . . . then will decide after that . . . ;)

thanks for the advice.

cos i am waiting for the D700 replacement too . . . so no hurry at the moment.

Morning folks!

Everyone here already has a good camera, so no need to be in too much of a hurry to replace it :)
Everyday still can go out and take photos whilst waiting for the price to be right.

... but luckily I didn't attempt to wake up this morning for sunrise sia. I enjoyed my uninterrupted sleep :)

Yup, no hurry! ;) I basically think the D700 and D300s replacements will be arse kickers judging from the D7000 performance.... btw, where were you at the kopi session? Why didn't you and wifey come forward? I think we were quite obvious at one end meddling with the 16-35mm... :)
