I think for the guys to advice you, you need to tell them how many stops you looking for, as they all cost different

wah chim sia. im still new to ND filters. :(

Then time to read up! :bsmilie: Know the strength of ND you want, as well as the type: slot-in or screw-on. Similar to screw-on ones, slot-in types have sizes as well. Know the pros an cons of each system. :D

Compared to the knowledge required for work, or even to make household buying decisions, I think ND filters rank VERY LOW on the scale.
Strange that ppl sometimes think so hard about something that costs $100+, yet easily spend many tens of K on a car, or home renovation.

well bro, not everyone has a thinking like yours, not everyone sees the world as it is,
its human nature to complicate the simplest things in life....

Frankly, N110 from B+W is really dirt cheap, considering that normal clear glass type (no haze or ND) is already around 100 to 115 in the stores... This is just a protector glass only okay? ;p Mass sales selling ND110 ranging from 135 to 140... that's powderful 10 freak'n stops... OF course don't end up getting lemons - check before you buy...

Now, 10-stop quality square glass filters on the other hand are cooler....;p Costs more of course... In other words, you get what you paid for!

A little piece of glass?? To a layman, sure - go try a DIY cheapo glass with tinted film and see if you can achieve the same result... Unless first time lucky, otherwise you can try and try and try until you can ACHIEVE the same EXACT results as those off the shelf items... In the end, spend a good 10 to 20 hours doing just that? 20 hours X $4.5 (minimum wage) = 90 bucks... plus materials and tools... close to $100 or so or maybe more... And 20 hours is probably an overly optimistic figure... Frankly... $100 to $200 for a just a simple (which is really not that simple) piece of glass - is REALLY not that ex...

My two cents... :bsmilie:
