UNfortunately...that's the only one we can be happy about... the next step up for DX users is 35mm f/1.8.... :bsmilie:

Agreed. both in my list of BBB but will chose 1 to complete my set-up. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Correct me if I'm wrong, f/1.8 will shot brighter pix in dim place eg, party @ home etc cos its f/1.8.

haha uncle can be more havoc then us. :p

hmm maybe can mix ard then all learn more.
when it is D90 outing then all poison ea other. haha
aiyah, somehow I reckon the D90 owners will 'gravitate' towards each other :)

f/1.8 will not produce brighter pics... :)

It allows more light in, so you can use a faster shutter speed to (hopefully) freeze movement whilst still allowing enough light to be captured. Hence large-aperture lenses are known as 'fast' lenses.

So now you know.... ZCA is more about SPEED! :bsmilie:

Also mean, you don't need to boost up your ISO too high - to avoid the noisy pixies...

Imagination is when you're positively creative.... Perversion is when you're negatively warped... :bsmilie:

Edit: oh... you meant to say your CFO said that?... I thought it was you!... :bsmilie:

I know my 12-24 raped a few of their cameras at the last D90 users outing!

and I think my SB600 broke Smiles88's hotshoe's "vir*****y".... :bsmilie:

I'd suggest starting with the reviews at photozone.de. He has covered most of the Nikon primes (except for some of the latest) plus a number of third parties.

Be careful. It is a matter of taste/preference with regards to primes. To me, if you can't shoot a prime wide open / widest and need to stop down much further to a smaller aperture to get a sharper image, then I'd less likely consider that prime. Then again, people's acceptance to sharpness varies. For some, center sharpness is enough - no need for extreme border/edge sharpness. Whereas, some would go for all. It depends on what you need the prime for. Portrait or landscape, etc? For the latter, many would prefer edge to edge sharpness - whereas Portraiture may not require such sharpness (as long as center is sharp, that would do). Some primes are not sharp at all, wide open, largest aperture... That doesn't mean you can't use it - it probably depends on how you use it as well.

50/1.8 good to start because it is cheap.

Sigma offers Sigma 30/1.4, and not-yet-released Sigma 85/1.4.

Sigma also have 20/1.8, 24/1.8, 28/1.8 and 50/1.4

thanks guys..

Last time I called to check for a list of UWA lenses, most of them just entertained me as part of their typical clientele.

There is a price guide for sigma lens here: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=662658
It may not be that updated though, and prices of a few lens are not in the list. It would be much better if you called up the stores. This way you can get the most updated price
