DJI Osmo with X5 camera finally announced!

The wait is finally over. Time to go shoot some cinematic footage using a gimbal.

Good news but the price though not yet announce must be very expensive ? Can change lens now but no news of what lens yet and how much the lens is ....

But, for me, I hope this will bring the price of DJI Osmo down.

Is that why the Osmo got 12% discount, now cost USD 609 with free shipping plus tax absorbed by DJI ? Good deal ?

Thanks

X5 has a M43 mount so technically, any M43 lens will fit. The only issue is the weight limit. I'm waiting to see if can balance with an Olympus 7-14 f2.8. The only advantage Osmo has over other one hand gimbal is size. But you are pretty much locked in time with this generation of sensor. Upgradability is something to consider before shelling out SD3000+

For OMO (one-man-operators), I see DJI Osmo RAW as a complement to DSLR-videocams. Before I found DJI Osmo a bit under-spec'ed for broadcast quality work but now that's no longer the case. Just hope the pricing will not be too high.

So, I can use all my m4/3 lens on this Osmo X5 ?

I cannot afford to buy the Osmo with X5 so I only hope the Osmo X3 will drop its price ... :sticktong

On a serious note, on the DJI website, the Osmo X3 now got 12% discount, now cost USD 609 with free shipping plus tax absorbed by DJI ? Is this a good deal ?

Thanks

Thanks pettypoh.

But by the time, you add all these adds-on, will the weight be almost similar as MS1 + GH4 ?

By the time u get all this up, your subject or moment would already be gone. This is strictly for posed or storyboarded stuff.

Not forgetting that u need to wait 30-60sec each time u power up and link the OSMO to your iPhone.

This device is moving away from it was intended to be. QUICK SNAP GO.

If i wanted good 4k stabilised footage in a controlled posed environment, yes, a MS1/Glidecam1000 + GH4 or A6300 would do a much much better job.

Thnks XsenseX for your thoughts.

My worry is that MS1 + GH4 + 12-35 combi may be over the stated specs requirement slightly.

The MS1 specs said the max weight is 800g but GH4 + 12-35 lens is 865g.

But buying a olympus 12mm F2 to be used on the GH4 will cost more than the MS1 itself ...

I am thinking of taking the risk and go for the MS1 + GH4 + 12-35 combi. What ya think ?

Current crop of action cam sized ILC seems geared for gimbal use. The sony UMC-S3C will be the one to watch in August. No pricing yet.
For now, maybe a GM1 or GF7 with samyang 8mm f2.8 seems like a damn good deal.
