Made from a canon bp-200 (cheap old grip) and 2nd hand minolta rc-1000S remote... used sticky cloth tape to tape it together at the moment. Will gaffer it nicely when done. (my gaffer tape not with me at currently)
VERTICAL HOLDING
HORIZONTAL
Other views... grip alone
I really needed this. Sport shots i find to be much nicer in portrait mode (i mean most sports are played standing up!) and its tiring to turn my hand all day.
HOW: quite easy but must be willing to sacrifice a remote and a grip. I used a hot knife to slice off part of the grip and part of the remote plastic (the remot has ALOT of extra space inside) then i taped it together. Keep the circuit borad of the remote intact. Do open up the remote (there are 2 small screws) to see where to cut, then put it back to gether later. U will need to cut off on eof the screw holes so the remote is held together now by just 1 screw. But no matter. Its taped tight after stuffing the wires from the remote into the grip (where the AA batts are supposed to be...then tape up any gaps (i could not cut exactly to match) and then prob gaffer at the end to make it look nicer( not done yet). but it works! the pics were taken with the grip on into a mirror. Finally connect the wire that is exposed to the remote socket of the camera. Viola!
