Recently I received many disturbing advertisements on my mobile. One of the most annoying example as follow:

<adv> We are looking for part time and full time CLEANERS! Call or sms 66526795 / 91447590 to apply. Thanks <un>

I wonder how these guys manage to get my mobile number? Do you know how to stop this spam on your mobile?

I guess one way is to use the PDPA thing.

For me it's more an annoyance rather than disturbance. Put your name on the do not call registry:

Property agents, marketing companies etc buy telephone number lists by the thousands, probably compiled from various sources eg lucky draw, market survey, website mailing lists etc

Ever since I registered my number with PDPA, these messages were reduced significantly. I do get some every now and then. I just send screen shots, together with details and particulars to them to follow up with the offending parties.

and if I do get calls from tele-marketers, I just tell them I am making a report to PDPA. I actually enjoyed hearing the chill travelling down the spines.....

I got the exact same AD too, from Starhub. Who knows it could be someone internally selling our HP #

If you are using the android phone like Samsung Ace 3.

You can use the anti-spam feature.

You can set any message with <adv> will automatic go to the spam folder without trigger any phone ring.

One thing you must take note when you register with DNC.
If you have buy something from the ads sender, you are consider to have "business relationship" with the sender and they are allow to send you ads unless you write in to ask them to stop.

Example, you bought a washing machine from a department store and register the warranty with them. They have your number and they can legally spam you. The DNC will not take action on this case.

Interesting. How long already? Faking bankruptcy lasted for 6 mths, then 3 mths subsequently. Someone must have did background check n start calling again.

In most letter-boxes in new HDB flats, you can lock your letter box "window" so that no one can put in unwanted flyers or advertisements inside. But if you notice, you still get a lot of junk coupons and adverts. I think it's also a money making thing these companies pay SingPost to do.

The loophole is called 'existing customer relationship'. You can't stop Singtel or any bank from calling you about promotions if you are their customer.
