Display difference between 17" & 15" Macbook Pro

Hi guys, I noticed that the display for the 17" is different from the 15" in terms of color and image quality. The 13" and the 15" both shows more saturated colors and higher contrast resulting in loss of detail as compared to the 17" macbook pro. The 17" shows more detail with better balance color saturation.

Anyone noticed this? BTW, its the new I5 and I7 models.

Also know that the 17" has a high resolution screen by default and the 15" has a standard resolution screen. Will the upgrade to high resolution screen for the 15" improve the colors and details?

Was thinking of getting the 15" macbook pro already, but after noticing the difference, now deciding it its more worthwhile to get the 17" instead?

The screens are not calibrated. so you cannot compare non-calibrated screens like that.

not only not callibrated, have to see also the panel from where also? Samsung..Acer...LG-Philips?

Probably the 15 and 17 inch panel from different sources.

Bottom line is not to use any display without calibration if you are doing any color work. Might be able to get away designing and layout, but for tweaking of images or final color work for video/film, it is always best to get the monitors calibrated. Accuracy is important in this case.

As for what the TS mentioned, I also see a difference between both screens, but it has most likely to do with factory settings and source of panels. The difference (stock, uncalibrated) is minimal though. If you see a huge difference, maybe it is because someone in the store did some tweaking themselves.

Nevertheless, Macbook Pro uses really good screens, which after calibration makes them good laptops for photo/video work.
