Direct order of large format or medium format film from Fujifilm

Dear friends,

I just linked up with a LF master in Singapore/Malaysia area.

He advised us we can directly purchase film from Fujifilm Japan.
Fujifilm can take any order, as long as the order reaches the minimum sum of SGD2000.
Divided by 10 people, this works out to be about $200 each.
This is even better than order from USA. Price wise, time, and also prevention of heat and X ray.
Yes, he stresses very much to avoid heat and x ray if quality is concerned.

Film includes 8X10 , 4X5, 6X6; slides, print film, B&W etc.

Anyway, this guy is in Facebook, (James Pan).
You can search for a rounded avatar, and friend him if you like.

We can all meet up to align.
Including taking some mountain and sunrise or cloud shots in Malaysia using LF or MF.

Hey Jon,

Thanks for the heads up! Do you know how the pricing is like for 4x5 and 8x10? Can SMS me!

It is slightly cheaper than ordering from USA.

I had a long talk with him last evening at Jalan Kayu mamak kopi shops.
He is encouraging us to go for 8X10.

Heads up to LoShen.
He asked you to work out a price plan for people who wants to develop 4X5 slides (10 in one go).
He also asked your capabilities to developed 8X10 slides.
He is also a close buddy of our much loved Philip Tay :)

This gentleman is also asking who wants to engage Cibachrome hand print in Australia.

Yep, camera is on the way! Ordered some slides and B&W as well.

Don't think it'll be in time for Saturday though, probably can only bring it out next week.

This is great!

I am in for some Velvia 100, 120 format, if anyone else wants to join in.

BTW, out of curiosity, if I buy film from Adorama or someone in US, would the import be affected by X-Ray at the customs check point?
Till date, I've only bought film locally, so I have no idea how it works when we do personal imports.

clap clap clap... really motivating !

Huh??? Isn't cibachrome a thing of the past?

So are many things.... :)

In Germany and Australia they still have a market.
Singapore the red dot is just too small.

I have yet to lay eyes on a cibachrome, but heard so much about it! Clapclap, ordering from fuji if the minimum is 2k should be easily reached since I'm sure there are people in this forum after rolls of MF and FP film

This one I must ''salute salute''. I recently started 6x6, but have the lust for a 6x7...
and I think to hit S$2,000.....its E A S Y for us :)
I'm in!

Hey, well, the most economical way for me is to run 4x5 slides in sets of 4. My current setup can process 4 sheets at a time, but with an additional holder, I can do 8 in one go. I do have the pricing in mind. We can discuss in private. Not that it is secretive, but the moderator is probably going to frown upon the thread if I do so in the open.

At this time, I can't do 8x10 - yet. But I think it is possible with a little help from lkkang. I'm sure a minor modification such as this is nothing compared to what he does for a living.

Ilford has announced the discontinuation of Cibachrome/Ifochrome. I believe they have taken the last batch of order, and this order will be delivered until Jun 2013. After which, unless the guys in China is going take this upon themselves, possibility the ultimate, most brilliant, most archival display medium for chromes will come to an end. See this thread:

Ilfochrome Update

With the passing of Ilfochrome, I don't know if the life of E6 will be cut short as well. After all, if one only cares about digital scanning, it's a lot easier to simply shoot negatives - wider exposure latitude made them so much more forgiving than chromes. The end result doesn't make much difference anyway if you go through the digital path. Ilfochrome/cibachrome has always been the ultimate destination for any photographer that shoots chromes - well, not anymore after Jun 2013. B&H still have some starter kits left, so if anyone that's keen, we can buy a set to share.

I have read that the closest alternative to ilfochrome/cibachrome in terms of the brilliance of display, is Fujiflex Crystal Archive, which is a RA-4 based medium. I am not sure if any lab locally offers it. With the wet darkroom, I think we are able to give this a try.

Dude, almost every bulk order that we have been doing has met that requirement :-)

I think this is going to break Fujifilm Singapore's heart :-) How about let's get hold of a pricelist to get things going? I'm happy to coordinate if need be.

(... I still cant' imagine Fujifilm Singapore is going to take this on without a fight .... :))

If they give us a bigger discount, we won't complain :)

discount will be good but nikkoros said no x ray and heat leh.. dun know what he meant.. so even without discount, this seems better deal.

Just When im thinking of buying some fuji negatives..

That guys used to be in the trade, so he knows all the insider running of things on film transport, delivery, etc.

All other discussions should be held in a meeting. Here only will invite troubles.... know what I mean. ;)

I don't mind picking up some RDPs and RVPs if the price is right!
