Hi

I just bought a 5D mkII with 8GB Sandisk ultra 30mb/s

What the difference if i use 8GB Sandisk ultra 30mb/s vs 8Gb Sandisk Extreme 60MB/s ?

I just need the memory card for JPEG and Movie Recording.

Thanks

For movies I believe you only need at least a class 6 (6 MB/s).

Any faster will be beneficial if you're writing data from your PC which will make the transfer speed faster.

Do correct me if I am wrong, coz I am using a class 6 and faced no issues so far.

The original poster is talking about CF cards not SD cards. CF cards are rated by xx MB/s not by class. As is the norm, there is no industry verification on the xx/MB claim by CF maker. Sandisk are usually quite good/accurate with their claim of speed.

30MB/s is more than enought for 1080P movie recording. I have the 30MB/s of the ULTRA and Extreme III card and taking movie is fine. However, some people on the Internet appear to have some problem which may be related to earlier firmware. Do a Google search.
