Difference between the 75AA and 90AA

Can anyone share the difference in real world usage between the 2 lenses? Is there any reason to use the 90 AA if one has the 75 AA or vice versa? I know that the minimum focusing distance is 0.7m for the 75 compared to 1.0m for the 90.

I have read about the 75 Lux but as this is too huge and not available anymore, so I'm looking at the difference between the 2. The primary usage would be for portraits on the M8.

I was right! the same hacker in LUF I've pmed u through LUF. I have 75Lux & 90AA & I think 90AA may be too sharp for portrait. 90AA is very sharp & has great resolving power-I'm amazed! I would try 2nd hand market for a good copy of 75lux esp there are out of production now. Saw 2 or 3 copies in 2nd shops here the last 1 or 2 months but all have been snap up.
Size & weight of 75Lux & 90 AA similar so with your injury(sorry to hear about that) 75cron may be your choice.

I have the 75AA. Bought it because it has the largest magnification (except the 90 macro) among Leica lenses. I dumped my 90/2.8 after that. With the M8, a 75 should be great for portraits.

Use a 49-55mm step-up ring. You should have E55 UV/Ir from your Elmarit 21.

Maybe this could help you in your consideration. Both pictures were taken with M8 and lenses were before coding to 6 bits, with Leica UV/IR filters on. Both have been sent to Solms for the 6 bits coding and overhaul. Bought them 2nd-hand.

Have the 75mm lux and the 90mm AA. While not quite what you are asking, my vote is for the 75mm lux. The bokeh is beautiful. Have never come across another lens that renders as beautifully as the 75mm lux. And i've tried a lot of lenses in the range. I find it a little hard to use the 90 on a rangefinder because it is hard to compose the 90mm. Sharpness wise, the 90mm is very sharp, but then again, sharpness is not hard to achieve in any modern lens. I think the way it renders or the bokeh is more important to me.

I use the 1.25x VF magnifier, so it has certainly helped. Any 75 Lux samples? I'm using the 50 Lux ASPH and am already impressed with the bokeh.

Here are two cropped images of the two images you had seen. Those were the first images I first tested out after acquiring the lens before i sent them to Solms for an overhaul and 6 bits coding. Therefore, i was testing out the max aperture of these two lens, i.e., to test out the bokeh. I go for nice bokehs in the lenses, and usually use it at the max aperture. If I am to stop down one stop, I would not have fully utilize the potential of the lens for its max aperture. Remember these are just test shots, not meant for any professional showcasing.

I got the UV/IR filter few weeks ago for the 75 lux. Anyway, I am still waiting for the E49 UV/IR filter to complete my collections. Heard that some of the filters are out from Solms, keep a lookout from B & H. They might be the first one to get them in stock.

So are you the one who got the last Tri-Elmar i saw at Max photo? Tried that lens in the shop, not to my liking, nice as a travel lens. But it's out-of-production lens! Will worth much more later;p Is that website as reliable as B & H? Never tried it before. You need the E49 UV/IR filter too, have you ordered from there?

No, I was not the one. The Tri-Elmar I was referring to was the WATE. And I tried to order, but I have to photostat my credit card details for first time orders... so troublesome.

Nah, i don't think that it's too troublesome, ordered some things from B & H before, also the same. Btw, I just ordered the E49 filter and it seems to be the last piece that they have! Now I guess it's on its way to Singa City!

Sorry, the old age idea of 'too sharp for portrait' does not hold water anymore for digital & PS. A picture must be sharp where it suppose to be sharp and blurred where it supposed to be blurred. Just my 2 cents worth.
