When I had my film SLR F65 and lenses, I used to leave them in the dry cabinet, as I only use them occassionally for events or travelling. Now that i have a D50, my film SLR stays in the dry cabinet, together with my used film strip, CDs. My D50 and lenses, SB800 & accessories stays in my bag most of the time, as I usually carry them out for shoots. I also do regular cleaning ( maybe like once a month cleaning the lenses & body).
So far, I don't seem to have any problem with fungus, even for my old lenses. There is only one case of dust on the sensor, which I sent to NSC for cleaning (free as still under warranty).
Personally, I don't see any problem if you keep the camera outside in a bag, if you use it all the time, and if you clean them regularly.
