FYI, I brought an oversea friend to Funan for a 3rd party battery for his 500D. Paid $12 for one from SLRR. Work like a charm.

slr revolution is a very good and honest shop so far.

someone should start a praise thread for them, i think they deserve more praise than j3:16

Not really la. I asked for a quote for my brother's purchase recently.

Body, Lens, ok la.

Filter kenna same trick. $99 bucks for Hoya. I got my bro a B+W at $78 instead.

I always believe, do your homework.

I concur. Bought my recent camera body with them. 1st quote = final quote. No games.

waaaa... better do our homework.

Is the filters really needed for photography? And is the price over the market or at market price? And is it really true that the canon battery won't last long? They said it is a MUST to buy these two items. ):

Canon battery won't last long ? :bsmilie:

That's a VERY FUNNY argument :bsmilie:

So, who made the camera in the seller perspective, is it Conan ? :bsmilie:

Polarizing filter needed for some applications but only the good ones,
I doubt you've been given a good one (well known brand and type)

maybe you look like carrot.. :P

i don't know about filter, but every camera/lens quote i have gotten from them on behalf of friends, etc is absolutely solid. the only trouble is that they sometimes out of stock, but loads of people have bought at that price, so they are not cheating.

maybe they are not so competitive for filters..? OP used to be much cheaper when they had grey sets also, but not everything there is cheap.

what is the normal price of the filter you asked for? :bsmilie:

If they didn't put a gun to your head, you don't have to buy anything. Why is there a need to buy anything now, rather than later when you discover you need it? Take it as a cheap lesson.

The battery is a straight out lie. Canon batteries last as long (or longer) than most 3rd party batteries. 3rd party batteries can be bought for $10 or so.

The filters you bought are from a rubbish manufacturer and overpriced at the same time. You can probably buy them for $30, not that you should ever buy anything branded steinzeiser.

The EOS bag and memory card are standard freebies most shops give out.

John 3:16 ?

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.

Wait till he said,

a GOOD lens is not from Canon, it can not focus well,
you should buy from a 3rd party brand like Tamron or Sigma, what a joke :bsmilie:

If it is Hoya HD, then the price is reasonable. AP at lvl 3 quoted me $100 + for the Hoya HD

Hey guys. I have seen quite a few photos online and am now considering whether I should get a fisheye lens. Which is better? A fisheye, or wide angle? And also from the sale of my electronics and savings I still have about $300 left. Is there anything reasonable for add ons? Well, I don't want to get scammed again ):

There is no "better", if fisheyes were better then WA/UWA then why would they still make those lenses ;p It depends on what you need / want really. If you've only just bought your camera, please play with it a little more before you get into this buybuybuy frenzy.

Hey forum! I recently bought a canon eos 550D and a lot of my friends said I have got myself swindled. I bought mine from a shop at lucky plaza (shall not name it until its clarified) for a total of $1580 SGD inclusive of GST. The guy was like forcing me to buy all the stuff and this is what I paid : $1200 for the eos 550D with 18-55 lens. around $150 for one UV filter and one Polarising filter.(is it called filter? its something think and its a circle which you screw onto the main lens). $100 for another battery from unknown brand. (he said canon battery last less than an hour and this one can last 5 hours while continuously used). He "gave free" two memory cards 8GB, the eos bag and thats all. All this for 1580 do you think its worthed it? I think I have gotten myself cheated, or am I just being a cheapskate? Because my friends bought theirs from Alan Photography for around 1.6k for the 18-135 lens kit. Please help): I'm kinda lost right now.

check ur phrasing. cheating isnt exactly the right word. u were misled fine. they didnt scam u actually.

as always. do ur research. ur 550d kit i could easily had gotten it for under 1.2k at ms color.

a wide angle lens (or uwa) will be generally more useful.

of course if you want to take a series of big head people, big head cats, big head dogs, pregnant buildings, i estimate it will take 1 week before the novelty runs out. ok, if you are a bit more into distorted things than most, maybe 3.

assuming you do use them both properly, i.e. you shoot fisheye images because they are better with a fisheye, not because "wow! so kewlz this world so round round de".. a uwa will be used more often than a fisheye.

Wah maybe. But i didn't hang my camera with big lens (i don't have any, anymore anyway) on my neck leh. In fact, i only wear berms and slippers and didn't bring any camera. :bsmilie:

Oh ya, i must say their pricing is competitive in terms of the bodies, lenses and some stuff.
But still, must do homework.

Yea, now OP also not that cheap these days. Same thing, do homework.

They don't have the lower grade filter i wanted, so recommended a higher end one i suppose.

But the pricing kinda high to me as i remember B+W also won't be that high for a 67mm.

End of the day, do your homework.

I've been chopped on filter at another reputable shop before. But heck, i didn't do my homework for filters, only the lens.

So, can't open thread. :bsmilie:

TS, just move on la.

But still, must do homework.

yes of course.

this life, only can really trust yourself. at the end of the day, make bad buy, it's your fault. not the shark salesman, not the xmm who was distracting you behind the shark salesman, not the cat that you were stroking...

for small ticket items i don't mind so much, also won't get chopped too much since there are rough ballpark figures you can follow on clubsnap.. just give or take $5 can close one eye. for large ticket items, i always make it a point to call all the shops, compare prices before i go and make buys. SOP.

When I see a thread title like this, I start shaking my head. :dunno:

Didn't even need to read the entire first post to know that this is the same old tale again.

I don't think this forum is intended to be a "I bought ABC products at $XXXX. Kena cheat liao ah? I want to know how ****** I am". The whole point of the forum should be to gather advice and suggestions before you actually act and start threads like "I INTEND to get bla bla bla at $XXXXX. Is it a reasonable price?" But of course, even if you do that, the guys he will still tell you... "DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!"
