Almost every PhotoFinish prints digital, some takes 4 days, some offers 1 day or urgent services.

4R @ 50cents
$5 handling chg

I had bad experience with standard photos, they are low on cost, but also low on quality. I was so unhappy that I complaint to the head office, but nobody care. AVIOD.

btw, crop your pics to 3:2 ratio first before sending for development. e.g. if your pics are 1600x1200, crop them to 1600:1067. If you don't crop, they'll crop for you and you might lose some heads ;p

how do you crop? is there any fast method to do so using Paint Shop Pro or PhotoShop? All my pics are 1600x1200(4x3) ratio. I have also cropped some of them to slightly less because of vignetting. So if I send for processing in this state, I'm sure to screw all of them up.

you could crop 1600x1067 out of the whole pic to get the right ratio. The crop tool should be able to specify the size, or the ratio for easy cropping.... before using these, I have to check the image size every time I crop a pic and use the calculator to find the ratio ;p

yeah. i'm doing this right now. siong man. i'm using PSP7 with the canvas size function and of course the calculator. i screwed up a few pics. luckily i made a back up. :D

i got another question. what is the minimum image size that can print to 4R? Can 1024x768(before crop) make it?

On PS7, I use "Rectangular Marquee Tool (M)", set the style to "Fixed Aspect Ratio", set width to "3", height to "2" (or vice versa). Dont need to manually calculate the canvas or pixels. :)

Lets see now.

Photoshop
1. Set the ratio. (only done once)
2. Open the file. (can open multiple)
3. Drag marquee
4. Optionally Move marquee.
5. Copy.
6. File->New.
7. Paste.
8. Save as new file.

About 5-6 steps most of the time.

Paint Shop Pro
1. Open the file. (can open multiple)
2. Canvas function.
3. Calculate size.
4. Set size in canvas dialog.
5. Optionally set left right margin accordingly. (equivalent to step 4 in Photoshop)
6. Save.

About 4-5 steps most of the time.

Hmmmm. I have yet to try Photoshop for a batch of files. What I dont like about photoshop is that i have to do step 6. But dragging the marquee and setting the aspect ratio are definite plusses.

Hi MooMoo,

What machine & paper are you using?

that's long
but standard photo in terms of 6Rs and above are really CHEAP!
but nowadays i print at Soo Kee though, using fuji paper!

WONDERFUL QUALITY!

1 advice : Don't save on printing if you want your pictures to look good!

might try Photofriends... how's the experience? heard pics turned out not bad... 40 cents per 4R right?

I just printed more than a hundred at Photo Friend. Pretty good quality. I suppose the shot has to be good in the first place. I had some shitty ones that came out shitty too. But the great ones are excellent. 40cents no handling and next day service.

Thanks. I'll be printing a batch of more than 200 pics.... so wanted to go to a good lab ;p

Actually, I find that the color of the prints done by Standard Photo and Singapore Color Center unsatisfactory. The colors they do are not consistent and may vary from outlet to outlet.

I usually develop my photos at Standard Photo but recently, I tried developing them at Photo Finish instead. Photo Finish prints gives me better colors than the ones from Standard.

Moreover, the staff at the Standard Photo outlets are mostly aunties and I dun think they do color correction for us! The staff at Photo Finish looks better trained and knowledgeable too.

Just my opinions ;)

of course what ! what you expect buy honda civic want to race like porshe. no way

anybody obtain good print out before? if so can recommend that place?

Hi ahbeng,

You can check out www.fotohub.com their printout is good and the service is both fast and friendly. You only need to sign up as a member and you can submit them online and they will call you when it is ready for collection.

Recently went on a testing spree to try out the prints at various labs/machines... my 3 images were direct from digicam with +1 stop brightness and cropped to 6R. No adjustment allowed.

Sent them to :-
> Fuji FDI lab using Frontier 350 (CA Supreme paper)
> Konica lab using QD-21 (Konica Dragon paper)
> Kodak lab using System 88 (Kodak Royal paper)
> Agfa lab using D-Lab2 (Agfa paper)
All 4 are reasonably well recommended in CS.

Outcome on Cat pix
Kodak - unnatural colors, too "rich" for my taste
Fuji - very near reality, fine and sharp
Konica - very near reality, fine and sharp (to my surprise)
Agfa - very very sharp, but fake colors

Outcome on Little Girl pix
Kodak - sickly skin tones
Fuji - soft and nice skin tones
Konica - soft and white skin tones
Agfa - Overly sharpened, too much artifacts

Outcome on grained, toned print (Platinum)
Kodak - :flush:
Fuji - close to what I want
Konica - very nice grain, but the tinge of yellow isn't Platinum
Agfa - greenish greenish tones

So, my very very personal opinion is to recommend FDI or Konica digital labs. The former are supposed to have pretty good quality control by Fuji. The latter, well, check out the rest of CS.....

NO, I have no intention of having a flame war from this post. I do stand by what I post. Interested parties can PM me to find out more, and maybe we can arrange for me to bring the prints to view at SEED.

hi, just now while walking back frm home, just happened to kaypo kaypo asked one of the shop at my neighbourhood central.
at Jurong West Ave 1, Blk 501, but i forgot to check the shop's name.
i just know that it's beside a VCD shop.

Handling fee $3.50 (waived if >35 pc)
4R per pc. $0.35

i have not printed at this shop before, but i think the price is relatively competitive.

maybe some members living near Jurong West have patronised this shop before?

Feedback abt the quality? thnx
