This has been quite a big hooha since A40 was launched. But its only with the optical viewfinder and only some units have this problem. No alignment problem using the LCD for framing. Not a serious problem IMO. So far no such complaints heard from forumners with A40.

I don't experience the out of alignment problem. Maybe I am not picky.

Read somewhere that the optical VF only can see 80% of the actual picture. This is a the trade off of having optical vs electronic VFs. Personally, i think the optical VF is better cause you can still frame a shot in near darkness. If I need more accurate framing, i just use the LCD.

those sets mentioned inside happen to be made in malaysia. those in singapore are made in japan. maybe there isnt this problem.....

I think Canon just remove quite a few good controls features out of the manual mode in order not to complete with their higher-end cameras.
