Anyone who owns the Dell 30" LCD Monitor willing to share his/her experiences whether on photos editing, animations making/editing, gaming, DVD movies, tv or internet?
Is 11ms bad for gaming, Dvd movies & tv?

I'm using this monitor and it has been great is almost everything that I do. Except of a few things.

Gaming:

This monitor has 4megapixels. It takes a lot of juice from your graphics card to have excellent frame rates. I'm using a older Geforce 6900, not sure if they are still selling this card. I can still play most games including FPS but in some cases especially where this is a lot of things going on at the same time (like in FPS), you get dropped frames. Get a good graphics card or 2 graphics card (SLI or cross fire) if you are a hard core gamer.

On non-FPS games, it's really fantastic. In RTS, you see so much more than other comparable monitors and it gives you an edge over others. As a comparison, a 17" has 1.3MP.

Web surfing:

Websites needs to be better coded to support wide screen monitors. Most of the web pages (except forums for some reason that I don't understand) has the text in the center portion. This is primarily to support older screens like 800x600. So a lot of wastes space

Photo editing/viewing:

I don't do a lot of this but I know a professional photographer who uses one and she enjoys being able to compare 2 photoes side by side at it's actual size. Her business improved and she is able to sell more enlargements because of this.

Hope this helps.

Great monitor but get a good gfx card to go with it. It supports a true DVI input with no internal processing on the monitor, so a pure digital signal from a graphics card will be sent straight to the screen - nice!

Is a 256MB Geforce 7900 GS graphics card gd enough/suitable for this monitor to it's fullness?

"Fullness" really depends on your expectations. If you are a hard core half life 2 gamer expecting 100FPS on the game, it's going to be tough.

However for all other applications, 7900 is probably more than enough :)

Do u mean for gaming need the 1GB 7950 which cost almost $900?
How abt playing Dvds & can it be connected to watch tv & future hd tv programs?

Gaming is very subjective. It really depends on what games you play and what sort of settings you usually set your graphics to. If play mainly solitaire in windows, just grab a cheap $200 card. If you are half crazy and like to play Far cry at max settings, I'm not sure if even the 7900 on a 24" monitor will make you happy. Personally, I'm using a 6900 and I'm quite happy.

The monitor itself does not have any connectors for you to connect anything other than a PC DVI port (dual link DVI is required). If you are referring to watching DVDs using your PC and future HD programs via your PC, then the answer is yes. The DVI port on the 3007W supports HDCP and that's required for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray. If you are thinking about connecting a DVD player to the monitor directly, or a HD tuner box, then the answer is no. If you need to have this feature, get Dell's 2407WFP. That monitor can do all those things.

I've been using the Dell 24 incher for over a year now. No problems at all!!!
