I'm using a Tamron macro 90mm lens. For the spider, I'm using iso 800, 1/200s and f13. For the damselfly, iso 800, 1/200s and f16:)

After the ID of this spider, I went to check my old pic which I thought was the Two-Striped Telamonia (female), but I now think its more of the female of the above, Wide-Jawed Viciria. you can see the female spider here:

You can see here for the reference I used.

Any resemblence? Well, both have food in the mouth!

Anyway, just to share these nature info.

why such high ISO? Is it because the shots are handheld or the lighting?

great shots BTW. I have a Tamron too, nice lens. :-)

I'm trying to get more natural light and reduce the harsh flash effect. The lighting is pretty bad cos I'm under shade. Thanks for your comments :)

Great shots! Actually I'm surprised you switched to a DSLR for your macro shots. I think you have done incredible work with your old p&s fujifilm cam. In fact, I was so inspired that I have been thinking of getting a p&s cam just for macro.

I always thought that DSLR has the disadvantage when it comes to macro due to the shallow DOF. Anyway, I've got lot more to learn from the macro sifus here.:)

Very nice Mel!

I tot Mel switches to DSLR for its better DOF as the reverse lens he used previously was too shallow in DOF:think: ?

Thanks for your kind comments! The flexibility of a prosumer is limited which is why I switch to DSLR. DSLR has the potential of producing excellent macros though it's difficult to master. Look at megaweb picts... wonder when I can I reach his standard:confused:

Thanks! F11 on my prosumer produce paper thin DOF on a reverse lens setup. It would be interesting to see how reverse lens flare on my DSLR + 90mm. Gotta save some $$ first:sweat:
