huuwwaaaaww!for your great and stunning images sir!
ouch!for what had happen.

thank u for continuing to share your UW images

 cool pix! love the colors, and I think those fishes love you to...:)
sorry bout the incident even I cant comprehend every detail...

I think the problem is not with the 8" dome rotating, rather the uneven pressure applied to the dome and port by having just 2 port locks in the 2-8 o'clock position. David at scubacam showed me a DIY method to secure the ports better. Will try it out and see how effective it is. :)
care to share what the DIY method is? i'm a little worried about the 8" dome doing the same thing to me in Dec too...thanks in advance.

He showed me 2 pieces of industrial strength velcro plastic pieces which can be cut and shaped to form some sort of port lock? not sure how much pressure the velcro pieces can apply though. :dunno:

Is it those that are found on the probation plates for new drivers ?? Just wondering how the velcro adhere to the casing.

Sorry wrong info given. Not too sure how the thing works, but it's for securing the 8" dome better. :dunno:

basically it's just to prevent it from turning and falling out from the bayonet lock, right? so maybe one long strip that goes across from the housing to the bottom of the dome port would do...

bleh ikelite should just have a better port lock system

Haha common complaint but then they have been producing housings for close to 40 years i think so they will claim their systems works perfectly well... :dunno:

I got a solution for ya John, change to a Sea&Sea or Nexus housing :bsmilie:

Jokes aside.. ok that wasn't really a joke :P...

Lovely pics as always Alvin, love the one of the fishes and the tyres... sorry to hear about the cam, wanted to talk to you at the jetty, but you looked so depressed I decided not to :)

I was?? Ok lah i think i was more irritated about the flooding than sad (or maybe cos my face got a perm scowl on it :bsmilie:). Cos got more important trips coming up soon end of this month and i'm worried the housing electronics will fry at the worst timing (ie. during the SDAA Lembeh shootout) or i can't replace that flooded viewfinder in time. ;(

yah i'm fine with the old type where you just put in the port and lock both port locks..it's the new 8" dome system that i'm worried about. you just put it in and twist it and it's supposed to be locked? scary leh.

Ive used the super dome for over a year on 2 different ikelite housings. Works fine. But i agree, a bit scary at first.

Ya but not as scary as me wondering how i managed to knock off the flat port when the port locks are still in place... :dunno:
