Think should be if they using back the same mounting.

Anyway, I see how the next DSLR from KM (Sony should be) looks like. FF is a nice feature to have. The rest, not that important. Maybe price include a grip too? ;)

I hope Sony make an announcement soon. Cathay Photo and other shop aren't bringing in any third party lens for Minolta. They are waiting to see what Sony will do.

All playing the waiting game now.

After so long a wait, Sony BETTER NOT DISAPPOINT....

i still dun get it;( KM going bust is causing their 7D to have prices as low as SGD 1.2K in the USA.

i thought that maybe all cameras are cheaper in US, but looking at the Canon 5D and 30D pricing, i found this false. their pricings is about the same as SG.
so why in the world are Singapore camera shops still holding on to 7D with a hefty price of 2.2k? dun they want to get rid of those supposedly "useless" junk now?

I think it's adorama having promotion now to clear the stock, that's why so low price, is you see other internet seller still maintain at US$999-1579. You can always buy from there and send through Vpost, which is cheaper than you buy local then.

The shops in Singapore are usually very small with little capital. Whatever capital they have are invested in the cameras they sell... so their money is tied up in the leftover 7Ds.... they will not want to lose money on these cameras... the larger internet stores have huge volumes so these losses from the 7D can be mitigated from the sales of other stuff...

The 7D is still a very capable and powerful camera, even with the 'newer' 5D in comparison, the only thing the 7D loses to the 5D is where the physical size is concerned (assuming no battery grips are involved).

Doesn't mean that internet or big shops in the States are selling for that price means that retailers have to follow them. If u find it expensive over here, there's always the option of buying on the net like B&H or Adorama. :)

is if safe to buy from US retailers? i have not tried oversea buying before. any precautions i must take?

B&H and Adorama seem reputable from most forumer feedback, but they may not send to Singapore directly. So have to order then send to Vpost instead.

what about warranty?

You can e-mail them if it comes with international warranty. I bought the KM 28-75 from Adorama recently and it came with International warranty. ;)

The thing is I don't know Sony accept international warranty or not  ? If not have to send back to US for service.

The international warranty only in affects if you buy it outside US. Technically, you are buying over the net through them and they are in US, hence it means no international warranty.

To be honest.. if you get from US and its like $1600 and if you get from Singapore its $2200, then the different is justify for the "no warranty" issue. you still have $600 to fix the camera or have the option to send back to US.

Touch wood, i never had any trouble yet for buying stuff from US.

But like any electronic, it will depend on your luck too...

In what situation will you have International warranty ? For example, when buying in Singapore, there will only be the Singapore warranty, am I right ? Is this something specific to product sold in the US ?

To be honest, I don't think there is an International warranty for Minolta. Each country cover their own.

there's a difference between shop, local and international warranty, and it varies from product to product, shop to shop.

e.g. years ago i bought a canon camera in simlim, i was given a choice between 1 year singapore warranty and 6 month international warranty (the shopkeeper offered this after i told him i was going overseas for a year). no price difference, just different kind of warranty.

if you look at b&h website, some items have 2 versions, a US version and an imported version. these come with a note explaining the different warranty they come with. the imported ones are actually grey sets with only shop warranty, ie damaged have to send back to b&h.

i bought a US version sigma flash from b&h. it came with international warranty. i took it to sigma in singapore and they fixed a blown flash bulb and didn't charge me as it was still under warranty.

sorry, ramble for so long, didn't answer your question. best to go and check what kind of warranty the item has and where it can be repaired, with the shopkeeper themselves.

thanks. have a clear picture now:cool:

With wireless tech so advance nowadays, future DSLR best to have one build in. Like that no need to have messy cable ard the house n also, no more reader needed. ;)

My charger just died. Looking for a replacement. It would be good if Sony came up with an in built solar charger with the camera. Then we don't have to worry about looking for an outlet to charge batteries. It will also beat the task of carrying many spare batteries for locations with no access to electricity.
