Hi all,
How much would it cost to clean a really dim RF viewfinder at this place?
How about cleaning the lens of a TLR?

the fastest way to getting your answer is to call the man himself, Mr Tay, either get a price quote over the phone. OR, bring your gear down for him to assess.

as 0200903C mentioned, best to bring it down to whichever repair place, let them have a look at it, so that they can better assess what needs fixing / cleaning. from there, they can give you the respective price quote and estimated time of repair.

When I sent mine to him and he promised 1 week. It has been 6 weeks now and my camera is still with him; unfinished. Needless to say i am kinda dissapointed with time taken. My first camera that i sent to him was finished within stipulated time though.

I think it has to depend on the kind of operation de camera need..give him a call bro..

For my lens n camera, he nv take anythin longer than 3 days..lens cleaning can be done on spot if its nt a big issue

i agree. my camera (lynx 14) has been there close to 7 weeks now. he said there was massive amounts of oil in the blades etc. but it's okay, phillip tay will give it TLC.

hello, yea it's the f1.4 lens. the most unfortunate thing is that i have yet to take any photos with it yet.

the folks at rangefinderforums hv very neat examples of photos taken by that rangefinder. juicy enough for me to want to fork out that kinda money to repair it.

for yashica actually. this is an earlier version of yashica rangefinders if i'm not wrong, and yea the f1.4 lens is gigantic. it was marketed as the Lynx. they reduced the sizes of their other rangefinders. you might wanna check out the GX and the CCN - both smaller versions of the GSN. slightly different focal range and similar f1.7 lenses.

not trying to be rude, but if you want a thread on the Yashica RFs, i'd invite you to start a new thread so that others can share and learn from it, rather the it be hidden here.

When Mr Tay start fixing a problematic camera or lens, he repairs more than what you deem to be the only fault at, but more of a time he's really kind enough to check and overhaul most of your soon-to-be problematic parts as well & sometime without any addition cost.

Yes he may delay the handing over time but you must know that you will get your camera in return for running smoothly many years ahead.

I have been there for a couple of times for my A & A products and yet almost every visit I went I can only hear praises from pass & current customers thanking him for doing this or spending that addition effort for that.

I personally see him as someone who not only repair, but also to perfect it everytime.

Just dropped by to put my cameras there, he's very reasonable in pricing. Cleaning should be 90 bucks.
He charged me 180 for TLR focusing prob and CLA, and 180 for off shutter speed and CLA for rangefinder; and he's a very pleasant man to talk with, really recommended :thumbsup:
