Why don't u guys do this.

Eg. Find a coke bottle or anything u fancy. Put it on the table, take a few steps back & practise! 30mins is probably more than enough to fool around with the settings. Oh, if you have a table lamp then u can start learning about lighting & shadow too.

Just get out there to shoot!

Maybe that's probably why an efficient "live view" may be the future of entry level DSLRs. The face is tracked even before half press shutter.

Though I'm used to shooting with Ricoh SLX with OVF decades ago... I'm still pretty impressed with Live VIew technology... :thumbsup: Sony A55 seems like it's making waves in the entry level market...
I do have a concern about loss of light landing on the A55 sensor though.. so will be watching closely the feedback of users..

correct me if i am wrong, actually live view is not as accurate as compared to view finder + manual focusing screen.

IMHO its a little Out of Focus as most of the bros/sis mentioned.

I always shoot at wide apertures, say 1.2 or 1.4. You will only find oof problem usually when u r shooting half body portrait to face portrait only. You shouldn't be facing any oof issues when you shoot full body.
Whenyou shoot half body, always choose the nearest focus point in you composition. You would still be able to move the composition a bit at this time. However, when you shoot face portrait don't move your composition once you get your focus locked.

My suggestion is try to understand more about depth of field and try to google for dof calculator on google. It would help you to understand more on the technicality side.
