i must come after u now as i lose an hour of sleep because of that! :bsmilie: anyway, it's ok for the mistake.. still must thank you for your help.. ;)

haha . . sorry for the mistake. we learn together . . . ;p

it wont' if you switch the number sequence to 'On' . . . see page 182.
Realized that the file numbering actually does continue even with swapping cards, as long as menu option "d7-file number sequence" is ON. My bad :embrass:

I thought it would only continue when using the same card...

hi hi everyone. Just gotten my D90 last Friday.
Upgraded from D80.
There are numerous changes or additions comparing between the D90 and D80.
I have look through the technical improvement. Did a bit of street shoot and landscape. So far only just 2 things I feel has some impact for me after the upgrade. Higher ISO and lower noise. Rest of the improvement harder has any impact for me. Instead of simply just satisfying craving for a current tech tool, I wonder if the extra money I put in will pay back(not saying in terms of monetary but quality) when I fully explore it. For landscape photography, there is hardly any impact except for a 20% higher res photo which can't differentiate when we reduce the size to upload the photos online.

What are you guys opinions for those upgraded from D80?
Welcome to the club!
Bro, the differences between the 2 are definitely more than just better high ISO and slightly higher resolution.
You'll notice that dynamic range is improved too. I guess-timate 1 more stop. Don't forget 4.5fps.
What I like most is the improved menu and info display. Fn button can be customized.

speakin of which, i prefer the d90 batt grip to the d300s or mayb even the d7k.
the mb-d80 battery grip is able to hv both the batts outside, makin swappin of the batt a easy job compare to mbd10, where 1 batt stays inside the cam, while the other in the grip...
i think the new d7k's grip mb-d11 is also the same as mbd10

i left the battery grip in my dry cabinet resting for good . . .

too bulky to me when fix . . . i feel that i can change batteries easily without it too.

Maybe folks here can enlighten me the use of the battery grip so that i can put to good use.
(please don't give me idea of using it as flower pot etc, i meant the real purpose of it)

you take out the batt from MB-D10, you can still shoot with the batt in the cam. You open the batt compartment of the MB-D80, how to continue shooting? ;)
MB-D10 designed for "uninterrupted" shooting. The batt in the camera is designed to sustain you whilst you (or assistant) are swapping out the depleted batt for a new one.

I think most use it for
1) comfortable portrait orientation shooting w/o the dreaded 'chicken-wing' posture
2) balance out those heavier lenses (eg. 70-200/2.8VRII)

I think of less concern to most is the increased batt life.

i think i tried once on the mbd80, u can check to c which batt is in use, then take out the other to swap without interrupting the cam.
but the mbd10, if the batt inside the cam is dead, u hv to take out everything(i mean the grip) jus to access tat batt...

the function of the batt grip is to ease ur wrist while u take portrait mode etc.
also, dual batt means u can almost shot till u drop on 2 full charge batts

but 2 x EN-EL3e inside the MB-D80 still cannot fight with a single EN-EL4A inside the MB-D10 in terms of battery juice, then you still got ANOTHER EN-EL3e inside the body ;)

i will try using my grip again . . . ;)

What i actually like about the grip is that i can use the normal AA batteries off the shelves to use . . . will be useful if i am going overseas and when i am too tired/forgotten to charge.

Congrats!

Erm. 2 weeks ago when I used my friend's D80, some options in D90's menu were missing in D80's menu. I also find the buttons of D90 easier to access, as well the better quality of the LCD

Thank you. :)

dynamic range more, higher fps, more focusing point.... etc.
ZCA and any other who upgrade from D80, how much did it help you after the upgrade?

I still take lousy photos.... :) but at least I feel better in the process! :)

hehehehe
I think with more customisation and easier access to some settings, the camera "gets of the way" more, and lets you concentrate more on photography.
I find the info screen quite useful when I'm shooting from very low angle, and I wanna use ND, thus necessitating the use of M mode and relying on the exposure meter. Can all be seen from the rear LCD...

lense is the actual 'eyes' of ur pic :D

hello! just a report of my question =D

hello just asking, if is possible to off the mount on flash in a fast way?, rather than holding on to the power button? i am using DI622

hello! just a report of my question =D
what has your question got to do with D90?

You're asking about your Nissin flash...
Want faster than holding the button? Open the battery compartment and let the batteries fall out lor...

hello! just a report of my question =D

as wad ZerocoolAstra mention. Just take out the battery and that solves the problem. that is by left if you want to do that.

y would you wan to switch it off so hasty ?

If I'm not wrong, D90 don't have this setting. Not sure of the higher end bodies have it though. Usually it's okay to use flash all the way right? Since supposedly it's all TTL

if u dun mind flashing, jus bounce the flash the other way from the subject...of course, do check if any poor souls is behind u when u do it
