D90 Error

Lately I've been experiencing f-- error when using the 105mm kit. Then just now, I tried the 50mm f/1.8 fired a few shots, turned it off then after a few minutes, turned it on and got the f-- error. Resolved it by rotating the lens slightly.
Can someone advise me what should I do? Is this a hardware issue?

i experienced a similar error using my tamron 28-75mm 2.8..on n off few times then ok...
my sb600 also refused to fire sometimes - could be connector ?
i ran thru the manuals it says for the 50mm 1.8 need to turn to the smallest aperture value then ok.

Similar problem with people having the 18-135 on D80 then. Might be due to the plastic mount. Try cleaning the contacts and if the problem persists, give NSC a call, explain the problem and see what they can do for you.

same problem I had with D90+18-105mm kit lens. Can be frustrating at times especially when you need it. Let us know if there is anything that we can do to get rid of that F__ error.

just wondering so many complains abt the error on the kit lens, who here has gone back to NSC and got the problem sorted out... just wondering why some here do not go to NSC? assuming the camera is still under warranty

It doesn't happen most of the time and I'm new to the dSLR. I tot some setting that I did that cause it to not being able to focus.

yes, it doesn't happen anytime that's why i have yet to go to NCS. Still observing though whether the problem persists consistently

Only problem i had with D90 was the internal AF motor not responding. Just on/off again fixes it. Never had any F-- error. I think majority of D90 users are not facing much problems, as shown from the 2 pages on this thread only.

Finally got my set to NSC. They checked the body and found nothing wrong with it. I was told that if there is any serious problem, error code will be recorded in the memory. Since there wasn't any code recorded, the body is alright.

In fact, I have no more problem with the set. Perhaps it just need sometime to 'run in' just like a car..... :dunno::dunno:

ya, same as my old AF 35-135 F3.5-4.5 lens tired in my friend D80 , also same thing F_error.. when i turning the Aperture ring still same..
dunno what happen..

when it lens is mount into my D700 , it's nothing happening... can be shots as well..
i dunno what going on..

I've had a few errors the first few weeks I had my D90 with kit lens. Have been changing lenses frequently ever since and experienced no errors for the past 2 months.

HI,

Not sure if this is considered a problem. Holding my cousin's D90 and he's complaining about the memory card green indicator light blinking non-stop. Read the manual for him (he is not into DSLR so I did the checks) and found nothing wrong with it.

Replaced the memory card and followed the formating procedures using both short-cut as well as via the menu and it is still the same. If he leaves it overight, end up the battery got drained the next day.

I really suspected is something wrong with the camera body...anyone with this experience? Not much about this problem in the web from my search too. He's overseas now and warranty card is kept somewhere that his wife cannot help locate. Got to either wait to send to NSC by himself or some kind souls got a solution.

Try a master reset on the body? If that doesn't fix the problem, then it needs to be brought in to NSC.

Is it a Nikkor? If it's not some contact problems, then it might be using a older CPU which may not be compatible....

Hmmmmm. seems that there is some bugs in D90 body.... I hope Nikon knows about this and come out with the firmware update. Perhaps that should solve most of our problems.

no such problems so far using both d90 and d300.

When such problems occur, check the lens aperture ring. Make sure its dialed to F1.8 as in the case of 50/F1.8

happen to a buddy b4, clean up the lens contak it' ok , run at my D700 got one time error , dat's all about it, not to worry

cheers

f/1.8? I thought should be the smallest aperture (can't remember if it's f/16 or f/22 on the 50/1.8)

f22 on 50mm f1.8

cheers

My D90 is around 10 mths old and has not really gave me problem.. except that recently, I have started to use the videoing function and realise that it stop recording the sound towards about tail end of the video, about 3-5 seconds.. Not sure if you guys share the same problem..
