have you guys paid already? then did the sales staff let you know when there'll be stock available?

experience with HN-The Central along with my colleague:

- got a deal with the salesperson @ $1650, but was told need a few days because no stock
- later at night received call from him and was told need wait a few wks as agent told them lack of stock
- following day called up nikon to enquire about stock availability and was told they were doing a stock take
- salesperson called up and suggested we cancel the order if we were not willing to wait (suspect he might have done it after we made the enquiry check with nikon and told them what HN told us)
- we decided to cancel the order as CP had stocks available; went down HN-The Central to cancel but was told the refund would not be immediate as they do not have the machine that handles Citibank credit card refund
- a mth after went down to cancel the order, they still have not credited back to my Citibank a/c and im still chasing them for a reason till now

this is just a personal sharing of our experience with HN and is not intended to be a flaming post but unfortunately, it turned out to be pretty disappointing.

i have made full payment, they need us to make full payment so tat they can "secure a stock" for us, he cant give me an exact date of when will there be stocks, coz they also get their stocks from agents, and there are quite a few of ppl in the waiting list currently. ;)

wow ok. I'll go and take a look over the weekend then.

Thanks!

From what I gathered from camera shops ppl, they said Japan instruction is cutting down production hence limited stock available to whole world! "Like sharing meat" as quoted from one shop owner. Personally, I'd not pay upfront in full but a deposit, but then again eventually the stock will come just a matter of can your ichy fingers wait that long:sweatsm:

i can't wait! haha.. hand veli itchy now!:lovegrin:

i didn't pay a cent to be on the waiting list.
but i guess it will secure ur d90 when stock comes in

If you read the fine print.. the extended warranty is "non-transferable" so end of the day.. when u sell a more than one year cam.. it will make no difference.

IMHO... get the $1750 because the 8GB + dry box is not worth 300+.
Yah, the extended warranty is non-transferable however, one will give the extended warranty certificate & receipt to the Buyer during transaction thus the 2nd-hand Buyer can just bring it along when it is needed for repair, just ignore that name on it.

what if the previous user is called and printed on the card as "Mohamad Farid and your name is Edison Chen ? The customer service will definately raise their eyebrows..

Not a problem at all as it is now very very common to buy 2nd-hand cameras, especially DSLR which may be rather expensive to own 1st-hand.

Hi folks,

My friend is going to Hong Kong and I have told him to help me hunt down the D90 body.

According to http://rolandlim.wordpress.com/2009/03/20/camera-lens-street-price-list/

It can be gotten for 6,700HKD. That's about $1250 SGD.

He's travelling with two bargain queens so hoping to get in the 6,300 HKD (SGD1172) range.

My question is...

Would it be worth it? Is it safe to buy in Hong Kong?

Just came back from HK and got a Toki ATX116 lens for HK$4180=S$796. Cheaper :thumbsup:there but as for Nikon body, my advice better get it here due to local warranty only.
