I bought from HN-Funan (Freddy) one half mth back. D90 +18-105kit for $1669 w GST. Free 'Leather' Bag + 8gb only. Got the optional 4yr EW for $285 as I reckon I'll use this D90 for many yrs to come and want to have a peace of mind if 'suay suay' (touch wood). This is cash price and for installments you may need to add a %

that's what I originally though too, but then the next sentence says "...seem to us the $1850 package is rather good deal, since we can get it without the need of extended warrranty..." which led me to my final conclusion. Otherwise why would someone pay more money for less warranty?
So to summarize:
We have 3 prices here:
1) $1650 from Alan Photo (funan), which I presume is just the standard package. No frills.
2) $1750 from HN, with a clause to purchase warranty for $285.
3) $1850 from HN with additional "freebies", and no need to purchase warranty.
My choice will be #1. Just get the minimum required, then buy exactly what is needed later on.

Sounds like quite a good price, considering it's HN. Looks like they're willing to challenge the camera shops' prices. What kind of 'leather' bag is offered? I thought a Lowepro camera bag would make more sense.
from my experience buying electrical equipment, not just cameras, the large retailers (HN, BD etc etc) can never be cheaper than the specialty or neighbourhood shops. even when they have good deals. the only time i've ever seen stuff trully cheap, is when they are clearing end of life products. stick to the tried and tested photo specialists.

Yes, the reason I went HN-F is b'cos I read a thread somewhere that you can bargain so I did & got what I want. The 'leather' bag is the usual they give free but it's good for normal use. I can put in my D90 w Kit lens, Toki12-24, 50f1.4, SonyHD Vcam, SB400 flash, filters, cleaning sets all inside but weight a ton!:sweatsm:
Not very true IMO. I mostly make if not all my purchases be it Stereo, LCD TV, Washer, Fan, Vcam, DSLR, P&S all from HN & BD. They are more reliable when it comes to warranty servicing and I ever had my 42"LCD changed to a new set just b'cos of one tiny dead pixel. I was a little surprised when I can bargain at HN-F but the D90 is brand new:thumbsup: never been molested! I'll continue to buy from these reputable giants:devil:

Well, I sold off my D60 after one yr but there is a balance of 3 yr EW from HN and the newfound user was elated:bsmilie: that his investment is protected. I gave him all the warranty documents and it is still valid so long as can produce the Original Invoice and the Warranty card stating the Serial No of the Cam.I will choose $1650 as the extended warranty is useless once you sell off your camera whereas the freebies are the cheapo and may not be useful. I would rather save the money for what i really need.
Freebies may be cheapo but they are very useful esp for newbies who are learning what they need for the start:dunno:, like how I started 2 yrs ago. Now I'm into UW, Prime, Telezoom, CPL, NG filters, etc. Spending too much $ until my Finance Minister is :angry:

That was during the early launch period where D90 was difficult to get everywhere.
At that time, the cheapest was $1640 at AP (for regulars) but no stock.

HN price are include GST and installment charge if u go to installment plan. If i remember correctly, the rest of retailer will have 3-5% charge if u pay by installment

I would reckon it's abt 2-3% additional but dun take my word for it as I'm not working there. Jus a satisfied customer. U can try call Freddy at 63345432/93387355 to find out. Tell him he come highly recommended and that may help put down some $ but always remember BARGAIN HARD!:sweatsm: You only get what you ask for in life. I thought there is a global recession going on or what?:dunno: How can be no stock? Maybe a consipracy to create a 'scarcity' tactic so can jack up prices on 1st come 1st grab basis?:nono:
just bought d90 18-105 VR today at HN-Funan from Freddy @ sgd 1669 inclusive gst (by cash only), freebies are Canon Tripod, 8gb sd card, and a steinzeiser bag v-238, still in the waiting list coz no stock elsewhere.
not too sure how's the freebies looks like, coz i just copy them directly from the invoice... =x
it's realli a good deal compared to AP-SLS (sgd1650 with 4gb sd card onli), MS color/cathay photo (sgd1690-1750 with 4gb card), those extra freebies from HN is good especially for newbies like me, i believe that the tripod and the camera bag are good enough for me, at least for now..

i cant remember how much i bought mine for. but the guy told me to come back 1hr time even though they closed already. reason was he despatched his colleague to collect my d90 from another outlet as i wanted it badly. i got my 8gb, steinzer tripod, nikon leather bag, twin kit lens(18-55 and 55-200) for $18++ with extended warranty for body + lenses = $2.1k.
was it worth ? yes and no.
yes = extended warranty , any problems if beyond repair will 1-1 exchange and can send it to them for cleaning/repair
no= warranty tied down to me, but i dont see myself upgradding so soon unless Nikon comes out with an FX body below $2k!:lovegrin:
