This is a multiple-exposure blended vertorama to include the traffic light trails and the light show of the MBS. Thank goodness I had a new system to crunch those crazy file sizes.

lovely shot! thanks for sharing

Nice one bro. What is this new system? How many exposures to crunch?

To those who bought without the 'E' ... do you regret buying it ?

u posted wrongly?

this is a thread for those with the D800E.

you should probably ask CSers who bought the D800 instead.

Thanks! Ah, it was a Lenovo K430 bought during the recent IT show, definitely much faster than my two-year old laptop that I use previously. I think I stacked over 30+ exposures for this, haha!

I have a D600 and I read the thread.

I'm guessing a lot of D800 users read this as well, mostly people considering upgrading, or D800E users who already upgraded from a D800.

I think it's a great place for the question.

posting it in the D800 thread should yield more replies, no?

never doubted that its a valid question.

posting the question here is fine, but it will be more appropriate if the CSer asked instead,

"To those who bought the 'E' ... do you regret buying it ?".

i'm very certain that the way the question is phrased, its targeted at D800 users, unless you're telling me there's a D600E. kekekeke

"D800E users who already upgraded from a D800"? :D Well, everything seems to be possible these days.

NO Not at all... why does anyone need it ? do you do prints to 900MM X 1400MM? Who here does ???

So no need for E....

There is a watermark on the photo "Jon Chang"

Haha, thanks! Yeap, there's a small watermark in the shot. Actually this is a rather straightforward shot, quite doable during the blue hour. I was shooting at 15s, f/11 at ISO100 on a Nikon 17-35mm at 17mm. Took about 30 odd exposures for all the light trails and stacked them in CS6, using 'lighten' as a blend mode. :)

Great work regardless, thanks for the tech info !

Also shows how the 17-35 Nikkor is still great. :)

Cheers.

Thank you! Yeap, the 17-35mm is still a nice lens. It may be a bit long in the tooth, but still very usable once stopped down and sharpened in post.

The dynamic range of this machine never fails to amaze me. This was just a single-shot exposure with a Lee 0.6 soft grad for the sky, no blending or HDR done. Just applied the usual contrast and colour adjustments in CS6 using Nik software.
