If you have the removable lens hood version of the Samyang 8mm, you can remove the hood and it can almost produce a full circular FE effect like the 8mm sigma DG (shoot in FX mode of course). But I'm still eyeing on the sigma one........
daredevil123 said:Actually the Tokina 10-17 FE zoon will give you a full circular, if you get the hoodless version, or file the hood down.
Serious?? Ok great! This should be cheaper than the sigma version.
Thanks DD123!!

Yup, been using that on my D800 at 16mm with good results. Haven't compared that against Nikon's 16mm fish eye.
Thank you! This was an in-camera-stacked exposure of six 30s exposures at f/13, which is the equivalent of a 3 min long exposure. I did that to achieve the dramatic cloud trails.
Thanks! Yes, I had to shoot in DX-crop mode, as you will get a black frame if you shoot in FX mode on the Samyang 8mm fisheye. 15mp is still reasonable, and I use my fisheye lens for 'fun' shots like this, so I'm cool with the drop in resolution. If you need more resolution, there's always the 16mm Nikon FX fisheye.![]()

Recently used it with my D800 with good results both under and above water at about 15-16mm. Posted photos at the D800 thread.

hi
what stacking software are you using?
exposure stacking is new to me, tks alot for sharing.. didn't know it exists .. haha
Hey there, usually I stack my photos using the D800E's in-camera multiple exposure stacking feature, which allows you to stack up to 10 images. If I do need to stack more than 10, I'll usually do so in Photoshop.![]()
When you do exposure stacking, say 6 photos, each of the photo you shoot is shot at 0EV or 1/6 of 0EV?
I never played with that feature before, but I think I once saw Kai played with it in his video, he did 2 shot multi exposure and he says need to underexpose each of the 2 shots by half a stop so that the final photo is properly exposed.

Is there no option to compensate for that automatically?
Scintillation said:According to people who have used it, you can turn on 'auto gain' to do just that. But I prefer to control them individually, so I've never touched it. Quite tricky to explain actually, it's best to play around with the feature and compare the effects.
