D800 wide angle len options?

Seems like there is no love for the 17-35 f2.8.....never got to try that, but reviews have been mixed on this lens. Any actual user comment?

As Blur Shadow mentioned, it's sharp in the center with weak corners. Still pretty good though. Resized:

Center is pretty sharp at 100%.

Corners are not so good though at 100%. But edges are fine.

One thing to note is that colours are somewhat muted and neutral, lacking some of the pop and micro-contrast of the newer lenses. But hey, this lens design is 13 years old and is still ok on the D800.

How bout this?

Tokina 17mm f3.5 non ATX work with my D800.

Hi guys, which brand and model of filter do you guys use on your UWA lens, that can keep vignette at minimal level?

I am thinking of Hoya pro1D but not sure if it is slim enough. :)

B+W MRC Nano XS-Pro. At the same time, it's the most expensive of all.

ya, so far in the market the most slim in the world, i was never seem any slimmer than B+W MRC Nano XS-Pro, mine one also used the same.

Haha thanks guys, I thought got other alternative. Seems like the B+W slim nano then :)

Kenko Zeta is pretty slim too... I have never used one though.

I'm using Nikon 20-35 AFD on my D800. Quite happy with the results. Less vignette than 20 AFD, curious. Also does not vignette with BW 2 stop GND. But the 20 has corner cut off when paired with the 62 mm version of the same filter. Any suggestion on slimmer GND?

Good to near your best results as older lens still works great on D800 @ 36mp.

But the 20-35 AFD just like rare lens and not really can't find a good copy.

Oh yeah. Maybe that too...

I use the 24mm tilt-shift lens too. Very nifty, but sometimes not wide enough.

Ops, I didn't know the Samyang is already available. How good is it?

Ah! I think you are mistaken. I use the Nikon PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED.
