D800 price drop!

Yup, from experience, D700 hovered at 300 below rrp for like 1 to 2 years? Why should the d800 price drop so fast?

Hi, I need to ask my sources on that!

Something fishy... Prehaps new of a new D4E? :p

Dream on everyone... Nikon UK reportedly just up the prices of the D4 and D800 by £500 and £200, respectively, "with immediate effect".

Well, they do protect the world from evil, and save the planet from alien attacks. So have to give them some advantage mar.

Yah..... In movies...

And nikon is not winning any poor fans this way.. geeze..

There, I correct it for you :bsmilie:
While I think D800 is a bargain for a camera in its class, the D4 is extremely overpriced IMO

Actually D800 is also overprice now.
At least $800 from its actual retail price.

Should wait for this wave to pass guys !

That's more like the sane price that they should be selling..... but with loads of insane people around, they need to sell at insane prices....

If you are staying in the US, its only about S$3750 today with free delivery. that is close to a more realistic pricing. SG pricing above $4000 is day light robbery. Wait for 2-4 weeks, prices will crash. Be patient.....

Not true. Local sales tax applies. Anywhere from 0% (rare) to 11%. Average 6% or so.

Will the price of D800 drop when D900 is in the market. I'm waiting for the price of D900 to drop, then I will consider D700.

Then you have to wait long, long... The D900 will be another 4-5 years. And by that time, you can only get the D700 in the second hand market - with shutter counts of hundreds of thousands.

4 -5 yrs is very short waiting time. I bought a few D70, when the price of D90 drop, and converted them to IR Cams and sell them with a healthy profit.

By then u will be converting D700 to IR cameras Liao... Anyway, D900 will materialize when the competitors response by large margin in capabilities and also with consideration of substantial technology improvement. Just look at D700 -> D800, and 5Dmk2 to mk3, Mk2 wins out fans that looks for video capabilities, capturing sales of D700, D800 wins out in both resolution and video (thanks to D4), mk3 was responded by providing ISO level equivalent to D3s. Tick for tack, it's us consumer who will benefit the technological advance but suffer the emptiness in our pockets, though we asked for it :p

I can't agree more! Hahahahaha, we yearn for better advancement in technology but our wallets cry each time a new highly desirable and technologically advanced product is released.

Internal error my @$$.. the marketing manager should be promoted for his honesty..

Not sure why.. I don't really buy that. I use many different systems, including Nikon and Canon. I am not brand loyal, but I buy each camera based on its capabilities and use. However, the events surrounding the launch and pricing of D800/E has left me questioning - it's either the company is really incompetent (in the company which I work for we plan for product launches one year in advance and ensure supply chain is tightly controlled and monitored to ensure any delays are flagged months in advance) or they have ethics issues.

I was waiting for the D800E but I'm sure anymore if I would like to deal with this company. Anyway, I still have some time before D800E is available and maybe I will change my mind.
