Sorry for hijacking your thread... I was wondering if anyone know whether the 18-135 lens is good enough for travel and most uses and whether is the 18-200VR justifiable (about S$800 difference)??

Considering the price, I feel 18-70mm is good enough for travel. 18-135mm will be better.

BTW, how much is 18-135mm?

Arto.

Hi Fword, longtime no chat. Incidentally I have decided to get a D80 body, usually like to go to MS color, maybe you want to join me and check it out while I purchase? we can do some trial shots, feel the cameras and compare results at the shop.

Janiel hope to have you around as well, I had fun last time visited MS, maybe tomorrow or sunday late afternoon ~ evening?

I think the 18-135 costs about $420++ while the 18-200VR costs over $1200++

Leinaj: Thanks for the advice. That's true actually, especially when I reflect on it when it comes to my own desires. The road will never end unless I get the 'favourite'. Believe it or not, my Dad is still in the process of making the decision at this time and is trying to find a chance to get down to the shops to try out both cameras. At the same time I'm trying to help him with lens choices and the like. :bsmilie:

Tulip123: Hello! Yes it's been a long time since we had that outing. Night Photography is a discipline that I find increasingly difficult to undertake. Although I see interesting scenes and setup the tripod to photograph, I'm invariably told to leave the premisis by security guards.

Thanks for asking me along to the shop, but as of late I've already gone with another friend down to MS Colour to have a feel of the camera bodies. It's still difficult for me to make the judgement though, because it's my Dad who should really be the one in my position, testing it out for himself.

photographer skills matter most, doesnt matter which lens you bring out for travel so long your skills is there, the quality of your images speak and not your equipment.

I have tried bring out different lens for overseas travel, and most often the lens always on my cam is the 17-35mmf/2.8 .. :bsmilie:
