D7100 User thread

With regards to my sensor spots issue earlier on that caused me to send my camera back for cleaning, I was initially quite puzzled because I never change my lens outside. After watching the below video, then I came to understand that was probably how it came about. I was shooting at the F1 with bursts of probably more than 300 shots.

Maybe all D7100 owners can do a check and see if it's true like what the video said and revert for everyone's information. I will hold the burst shot for the time being. I cannot imagine having to send my camera in for cleaning every time after doing burst shots. That also means that it's probably not dust but something else.

think problem is solved.
ViewNX was not able to update to latest version thus causing the error.
Uninstalled the existing software and installed the lastest version and I think it's workin fine.
At least i was able to convert one NEF file to JPEG. Have yet to try out on editing NEF and convert to JPEG though.
Thanks to all who have adviced me.

If burst shots is the root cause, I will suggest that we just do as many as possible in one short then only to clean the sensor once for all.

What about the next time when you need to burst again? Then send for cleaning again? Money is one issue. Taking the time off to go NSC is another thing.

I thought once we burst it thoroughly, it may "used up"the surplus oil. ...

I see. So thats what you meant. I am not sure if that's workable though. Burst all you can to use up all oil because the first cleaning is free. Wish you good luck!

I shot this with Tamron 24-70 at Marina Bayfront last weekend.

Looks like an oil spot.

Happens from time to time. Use the body's sensor cleaning function and see if it goes away. If it does not, do it a few more times and it still does not and you don't want to send it for cleaning because of 1 or 2 spots, go buy a sensor cleaning kit (Cathay sells them and I believe TK or Alan prob sell them too) and clean it.

What aperture that you used for this photo?
The dust spot will become more obvious when you set to F22 and shot at flat white surface.
As for my case, the dust spot was really a "very big" spot that I would noticed it at F5.6 on white surface.

I wonder why are people selling off the Nikon D7100 off at the classified.
I thought of buying to upgrade my D80. I am looking at Samsung also
with 24-1000mm len. Picture is not bad, I can take bird picture with it but I am stuck with some Nikon lens.
