3200 is not really HIGH ISO. YMMV!

You won't think that way if you are using film. Technology is incredible.
I guess for a crop sensor, that's one of the cleanest you can get at ISO 3200. Sorry if the ISO is too mis-rep as high, cos it's considered high for me.
The ambient colour is pretty much like the pic I shown. It's indoor, warm light and dim lighting. Look at the background and u will have a tough idea of how it's like .

Do you guys think the 7100 has better vf visibility like what the sales literature says? I think it does compared to the d7000.

Just bought the D7100 from John 3:16 today.. first time chatting with the great guys there.. Sam and YS and i think i've got poisoned!
Current on the 18-105 kit lens atm... might be looking at the 50mm 1.8 as a spare set for some bokeh shots?
Btw this is my virgin attempt at DSLRs.. was previously on the S90...

Congrats n good luck with the new camera. Yes the 50/1.8d(cheaper n much smaller but louder af) is a fast n cheap prime with decent quality wide open. From my usage with both the d and g(2x more pricy, silent focussing n sharper than d at 1.8) stopping down to f2.8 allows you to really use all those 24mp.

Look for the 50mm 1.8G version.. its an awesome combo with your d7100

the afd 50mm f1.8 is also very very capable for its price!!

Indeed it is. If you dont need F1.8 maybe the 40/2.8 DX or 60/2.8D macro are better choices because they do macro and also are probably one of the sharpest lenses at F2.8 in Nikon's catalogue of cheap glass.
