...big file size gives you more room to do cropping;

...the extra 1.3dx reach and coupled with large file size allow a decent cropping for nature photography;

good to carry around a spare batt..good thing is that it uses the same batt as the d600/d800 if you decide to upgrade to full frame in the future

how much is the extra battery for this?

You can get the battery for anything between S$60 to S$65 from the usual places.

I got mine for S$60.

Yup sslr 54 when last I bought my D7100 from them.
Got mine at MS for 65 cos its on my way home.

Got my spare battery at Alan photo for 59. Camera doesnt have sensor dust or LAF issue on mine. Coming from a d5000 this camera is fantastic and an improvement in every way. No issues with sigma lenses on mine

any other else using sigma 17-50 ?
are you experiencing the image review issue? around 1minute even changing it to 4s?

How about tamron 17-50mm f/2.8.. anyone using this lens with d7100. How is it doing? Thanks

Just found dust spot on my d7100, unable to blow away.

tried that but the dust still there, its just 1 spot. dunno is oil or dust.

You shot using small aperture?
I would consider that spot practically unnoticeable. Wouldn't be too concerned about it.

another sample...

from sigma 17-50

ya i tink is f8 or so..

f/8 Not really very small aperture. If I was on a 'witch-hunt' for spots, probably f/16 or something.
That being said, I really do think it's a very small spot and practically unnoticeable. I'd advise you not to fret about it. Otherwise you'll be spending more time and energy worrying about spots than thinking about making memorable photos.
