D7000 users (Part 4)

Just FYI, NSC did not charge for sensor cleaning for D7000 the last time I helped my friend bringing to them for cleaning. Warranty or not as long as its not a grey set they said. Only for D7000 though. Just dunno how long do they offer free.

I also had a pleasant experience 2 weeks ago. Brought my gears there for a check, after finding nothing wrong with my Camera, they actually did a cleaning to my camera. My Focusing screen was clogged with dust (no joke) but after I got it back in half an hour, it was spotless. Prior to that, I did called to check on Focusing screen cleaning and was quoted $120 befor GST. How much did it cost me to get back a spotless one? $0.....:)

Not sure how they go about it. But hope Nikon can continue this type of good service.

Is oil leak as it only appears on some pics when i set the aperture of F11 and above. When i set my aperture to F8 and below, there is no problem.

dust on sensor will also go away if on F8 and below. u can always bring it down for a check though..

Normally I will bring my Lens Pen and Brighter LED touch light with Blower.

Just see on close up on image of the point then just mirror up and clean on myself.

you can't guarantee that's an oil leak. dust spots also appear when you set f11 onwards. Shoot a white piece of paper at f22, that's the standard test to check if sensor is dirty or not...

Can I know how most of you are setting and using the U1 and U2 custom settings? Trying to figure out the best use for them.

U1 for portraits, U2 for landscape. Most of time I use A mode though.

U1 with auto iso and high max iso of 3200 for birding and U2 for with auto iso switched off for everything else. Use them only when travelling, else just use A mode.

Thanks, guys. I'm contemplating using one for still portraits, and one for action (sports, running kids, etc), with different settings as to shooting modes, AF modes and AF area modes. For landscapes there's usually more setup time, so will not use U1 or U2.

That's the theory anyway, guess I'll just have to try it out!

I brought it down yesterday and was advised i had to leave it in the ICU for 2 weeks. Sigh, 2 weeks without her is a toture.

Will there be an outing/gear molesting session coming up? :bsmilie:

I will be interested. Do you have any place to recommend? I was thinking of a JB trip, maybe sunset at Danga Bay.

Maybe we short list a few places first then we post in outing section?

Bro the location not confirmed. Also no date set yet. I was just suggesting JB, but if some prefer locally, then we do locally.

You got any suggestion?

Actually if you plan it for D7000 only, we can do it here, no need for outing section, that's what the Pentax and Sony people do. Hmm if going JB we might need to have enough people who drive.

I think organising a street or landscape outing would be the best since its not limited by gears. Can be the forever favourite MBS or Little India haha

Ok so should we fix a date? How about 24th June, 4-8pm?
