Guys can I check with those of you who owns the SB 700 and wide angle lenses, do you face uneven illumination on the subject (e.g group shots) when you shoot at the widest end, say 10mm? I am getting this flash soon so just wanna hear some of actual user feedback :)

The SB700 lens coverage is only

Lens Coverage 14-120mm (DX-format)
24 to 120mm (FX-Format)

If u shoot @10mm of-course uneven illum

I think by popping the wide angle diffuser should bring it down to 10mm but you still got to be careful with the frontal subject in your frame that you are Illuminating. They will have short falloff of light due to the close up distance which might seen as uneven illumination or worse with harsh lighting and shadows.

Thanks for your input guys. Will take note of the above :)

u could try the built in wide panel. few things u can try, built in wide panel, it's suppose to diffuse the light n make it even, if still too harsh, u can try it with the diffuser dome. u can also play with the illumination pattern to choose from standard, center-weighted and even. even mode is much better for group shots...

You are about to be eaten alive for not posting in "Outings & Gatherings" section.

(especially Kei)

Haha I don't think it's that bad in the Nikon section

Hi lotus80, as I only ask who want to plan for a outing for those using d7000 for it, so that we can learn from each other and also I know i will need to post under outing but please take note that outing can be any camera brand.

I will listen to your suggestion and will post a outing for it.

And also I still in learning process, I will still have to learn from it.

Focussing screen

I see some fellows get focussing screen and jazzy stuff, not sure the real need for people like me who always use auto focus mode.

What are the use cases, can someone enlighten pls, thanks.

For people who use manual lens or do a lot of manual focusing, a split focusing screen helps a lot in determining focus accuracy.

I think I need to see it before I could imagine how could it help. Thanks anyway :-)

Here's how it will look like
Basically you determine focus accuracy by the split center. It will be a complete circle only when it's in focus, otherwise, it will be 2 semi circles split from each other.
*hope I described it accurately =p

This used to be the standard screen in SLRs if I m right. I vaguely remember it on my aunt's SLR a long time ago, and I wasn't into photography yet!

Hi all,

Do you all send to NSC when you realised your pics have the oil leak mark? I discovered a few pics of mine have the oil dot on some of the pics which i took when i set the aperture to F11 or higher.
Do they charge for that when the warranty is over?

please confirm if it's oil leak or dirt on sensor.
I got dirt on sensor before, not oil. This can be cleaned by yourself.

try blowing your sensor with a blow (camera face down to the floor) first. see if the spots go away after that.

Thom Hogan Cleaning Guide

Just FYI, NSC did not charge for sensor cleaning for D7000 the last time I helped my friend bringing to them for cleaning. Warranty or not as long as its not a grey set they said. Only for D7000 though. Just dunno how long do they offer free.

Is oil leak as it only appears on some pics when i set the aperture of F11 and above. When i set my aperture to F8 and below, there is no problem.
