D7000 users (Part 4)

how does the ttl works?....meter the whole frame?

It's the same behavior in M and A modes with Matrix or Point metering.

EV +\- is also adjusting FV+\-

Further, FV value is +\- in EV

Example 1:
FV set to -2
EV set to +2
Resultant image EXIF data: EV 2, FV 0

Example 2:
FV set to 0
EV set to +2
Resultant image EXIF data: EV 2, FV 2

I think FV is tied to EV or not ?

Workaround that I know so far is to set flash to Manual from TTL setting, but then it is inconvenient and takes away the charm of setting FV from the buttons.

If you have time, please have a look and advice, many thanks

Actually, the D7000 stock they are selling now are local. Their website listed a list of items they selling with warranty stated clearly if they are shop or local distro warranty.

I see, I misread the part on the warranty

Not sure if I understand ur question correctly, but I try ok?

FV affects flash power, while EV affects shutter speed which eventually affects exposure. With flash photography, the idea is to achieve the desired ambient exposure that balances the desired exposure on your subject (with the desire direction and quality of light as well of course). What I do is treat each of these 2 values separately by taking the desired ambient exposure first (meant for background), then add light(s) to brighten up the subjects to achieve the desired flash exposure, direction and quality of light.

Hence I would advise you to treat the FV and EV value separately, don't correlated them. My experiences, may not be correct but it works for me :)

First, you have to let us know what lens you're using, recommendation is always Nik's TCs, but it doesn't fit all Nikkor lenses.

i'm a newbie too but since i got my D7k, i tried playing with the off camera flash n played ard with different angles shooting the subject. i usually shoot TTL first to see the exposure but usually i will switch to manual flash mode where i control the flash power emitted. still experimenting the strobe effect but really, it can do wonders. read it up n u will find wonderful things can be done n i am using a lower end SB700 only...

Haha SB700 very good already, up until now I only have SB400 that's original. It's a mixture of Nissins and Yongnuos for my other flashes.

haven't gotten around to testing it yet :)
Ignoring what the EXIF states, how does the image turn out? Does the 'flashed' subject become less exposed if you only adjust EV down? If you're in aperture priority mode and fixed ISO speed, the only other parameter left for the camera to adjust would be shutter speed, which has the least effect on flash exposure.

you can also adjust flash EV to control the flash output power :) Not really necessary to use full manual mode all the time. After all, you paid a premium for a flash with TTL capability :)

haha..is it? i dunno la...i always see ppl talking abt SB900 or SB800 so i thot my number is smaller so it's a small one. also i upgraded from a laoya brand bought from HN at $100 which only has TTL but luckily able to use as slave as well, so it's nice playing with them....
