I sold my canon 600d in BnS (sometimes miss the color saturation of the toy camera)

Hi, Intend to upgrade from current kit len. As I am likely to upgrade to full frame in a year or two, the plan is to bite the bullet and go for FX lens. Most probably will be buying new lens as the 2nd hand ones are typically only 5 to 10% cheaper than new ones. What are the 3rd party lenses that come close to the performance of the Nikon "Holy Trinity" lens? Cheers.

Tamron 24-75 USD. Sigma 24-70 HSM. Sigma 70-200 f2.8 OS. All these can be easily searched from the Internet. So can their reviews. You could perhaps go to shops to try out the different lenses and see which best suits you.

Any peeps waiting for Nikon 28mm F/1.8G?

think that is such a lovely lens to have even on DX.

a good alternative to siggy 30mm F/1.4 + its a FF lens!

But isn't thr already a 35 f1.8 to fill that gap. IMHO 28 f1.8 won't appeal to many aside those who are looking to go FF in the near future

Yes I'm the one, if the 28mm f1.8G release and in stock and sure I grab it for replaced my 35mm f1.8G, cause in the 28mm x 1.5 will be slightly wider then 35mm DX.
So that time u only need AF-S 28mm f1.8G & 50mm f1.8G for DX or FX to cover your trip or travel.
Looks like I can't wait it in hand.

Hopefully you won't have issues with the focal ranges of FX zooms, as (understandably) they'd be designed with FX cameras in mind.
A lens such as 24-70 isn't quite so versatile on a DX camera, which is why I feel the 17-55 DX still enjoys such popularity.
For "3rd party FX holy trinity", can take a look at
Tokina 16-28/2.8
Tamron 24-70/2.8
Sigma 70-200/2.8

:)

EV and Flash

Fellas,

I am trying to keep flash output constant while trying to shot at -3,-6,-1,-1.3 EV etc.

Problem is that Flash also goes down to same levels i.e. -3,-6,-1,-1.3

Is it possible to keep flash at same power, I wish to dim the background using -EV and large aperture while keeping subject illuminated from flash light.

Thanks !

Have u tried shooting in manual exposure mode, and only adjusting shutter speed to affect the exposure?
I shall do a test myself to see if the flash exposure gets affected this way. Theoretically there should be little to no difference, unless the camera controls your flash EV behind-the-scenes as well.

i think the TTL will still adjust the flash output when u shoot in manual mode.. i might be wrong though.. nvr really test it..
