Sucks man. I don't use my D7K that much.. if it gets oil problems it will invariably be after the warranty period. >.<

If u do, once u have opanda, right click your latest image and click on the option "view exif/....." then scroll down to this section called MakerNote. Scroll further down till you see this thing that says "total number of shutter releases" in the left column and the the number on the right column

when in live view.. how to change focus mode?
as in area af or face detect af...

Half press does exactly the opposite, it turns off the LCD. Actually, learn to read info thr the viewfinder. It gives you more quick info than your LCD screen.

In additional, keep looking at the LCD screen is what some photographer call chimping. Which is a little bad because it takes your eye away from the viewfinder, which results in missing shots or the "moment". That's why DSLR camera spent some much in designing the best ergonomic, flexible and easy to reach buttons so that photographer will spend more time in the viewfinder than in the LCD. There's a few advantage, firstly it lessen the problem of missing shot as stated before. 2ndly, it also conserve batteries as LCD consumes more power than everything else in a camera except built in flash.

Thanks for the reply. Well, i don't think the LCD will drain that much by viewing on the lcd. To me, that saving is insignifcant.
Chimping? Nope. I think is ok to miss the "moment". Clearly, Nikon only design what they have in mind and not what the consumer have in mind. An option like this should be available for the user to use it or not. i think.

u half-shutter the info will be on the top lcd ma.. so u can read it from there or look thru the viewfinder to see the info..

can enlgihten me on this? The top lcd does not reflect on my AF-A focal point (it keeps showing it is in the middle when already adjusted it). Is there a reason why?

sorry, the questions above are asked by my friend and i have no idea what is it.

Is ur lens in MF? The AF point in used can be seen in the viewfinder...

I think what they had in mind is that when u get to this range of camera u will have enough knowledge to do away with all the animations.. I was a user of D60 and i still use it sometimes.. but now i also don really refer to the LCD for the info unless doing initial adjustments.. i prefer what my D7000 have.. the top lcd is better IMO..

nope. is a 18-105 vr kit lens and on AF. The rear lcd is reflecting to the correct position but the top LCD isn't

i don think the top lcd will show the position of the AF point.. but i might be wrong... as i normally see it from the viewfinder only..

I thought latest batch solve the oil stain issue?
