Orh ....

I will go shoot some more pictures and then go buy the 50mm f1.8 ...

one thing i learned from CSers here is to shoot at 50mm on your kit lens, then see if it suits you well. but do keep in mind that when you use the 50 1.8, you'll be at 1.8D.
also, just a short note i learned from CS too
FX=Japan
DX=Thailand
so no worries ^^

I dun think all FX lens are made Japan. My 105mm micro is made in china.

mind tell me where u got it? and $$? if not u can pm me too here

got it @ SLR Revo, quoted by them for $243. i believe their prices are quite gd. But dun ever think of walking in to get one, everyone's ordering from them then gettin it on the next batch haha.

hey ... guys ...

can anybody advise any good prime lenses to use on D7k?

I personally find 50mm on a dx is too far. Have to move back quite a bit.
35mm works just find ... Do consider 35mmf2.0 so just in case you upgrade to a fx, You still can utilize it.
If got green to burn, then can consider 35mm f1.4

f 2.8? or should go lesser?

50mm better or 35 mm is better?

50mm or 35mm doesn't really matter..
F1.4 for either one will be more important..
Hee Hee..
But if I am you, I get 50mm f1.4..
More versatile in the cost aspect..
If u got lots of cash to spare..
24mm f1.4 will be perfect on your d7k body if for me..

If stretch all the way for 35mm f1.4..
Might as well stretch some more for the 24mm f1.4.. My dream..

I done my homework last time ...

Nikon good with photo taking ...
Canon good with Video shooting ...

Pentax good with both ...

Just my humble thinking and my homework.

Hi There, U are posting in a Nikon subforum of course we will say D7k is better. ;p

But back on topic, I had the same dilemma as u as well when choosing a dslr.

I went for the D7000 for the following reasons (All personal opinions!)
1) Better ISO performance
2) The grip
3) Better IQ compared to 60D
4) Better sensor
5) 100% Viewfinder (This r0x man!)
6) Battery Life (rated for 1.1-1.2k shots per charge)
7) People around me use more nikon (easier to ask questions & borrow lens)

Noted by me but not put into consideration: Higher FPS, 2 mem stick slots, Partial Alloy body

Personal Analysis of the points that 60D is better than D7k: Video, Tilt Screen & better prolonged burst (slower but longer bursts)

So i went for the D7k instead.

(All above are PURELY my PERSONAL opinions based on reading & watching reviews) :D

Are u new to the DSLR world? (as in no existing camera equipment at all?)

If u're really new, I'll recco u getting the camera during IT Show (Though most here will advise against so)

The prices @ IT Shows are admittedly more expensive than the prices @ Retail Shops but the freebies they provide are very useful & essential to a begineer (Take for eg, Mar IT Show. Free gifts include Bag, Dry cab, Cleaning Kit, Tripod, 50mm Prime etc)

But of course, if u know what u want to get, u can choose to buy individual items (which i did) but the overall cost will be higher.

Just my 2 cents

Hi Irvine / google,

thanks for your replies.
shall go hunt around at Funan then ;)

And to answer @incomplet qns, D7000 better picture taking, whereas 60D better at HD video (but not by far)
I was also considering the 60D until i saw the D7000.
Also i have to mention that the buttons on the 60D are not very tactile.
The only thing that i can think of choosing 60D over D7000 is the vari-angle lcd.
