It's always like that.. the initial itch gives you the shiokness.. after that it's just another lens after all. :p never believed in superzooms during the film days but found the 18-200 decent enough for DX. Of course modern design makes it better. Let us know if you get to lay your hands on the Tamron 28-300. :)

Bro, did some read up on the Tamron 28-300 ... got mixed reactions. Some good remarks on lens like 'it's the ultimate walk-about lens on FF' and for the not so favourable remarks like '28mm wide open on FF body, not so good' ... I hv yet to personally test the lens at any shop.

Hoping someone with this lens on FF can verify this ... :)

Yes, there are mixed reviews but I believe that the general rule on Superzooms still holds true today.

In terms of image quality "IQ", a superzoom can never match the optical quality of a standard zoom or a zoom with a dedicated zoom range.

The Tamron 28-75 provides the PRO level quality of lens which the D700 deserves.

The Tamron 28-300 is meant for really casual usage. The IQ is definitely not as good as the Tamron 28-75. So, whether it is acceptable or not will depend on how demanding the owner is of IQ. BTW, if it is any consolation, the Nikon expert Thom Hogan uses the 28-300 as a walkabout lens for his D700 camera.

Haha! Thanks again Bro ... me having & still keeping the Nikon 24-70 f2.8 for specific purpose. Just needed a lens which is something like the 18-200VR on DX for FF for general walk-about photography so looking at the Tammy 28-300VC. :)
