D700 price after 5Dmk2 launch??

This is one feature the 5DMkII has that I hope Nikon will incorporate into its future DSLRs -- auto vignetting correction. Nikon introduced lateral CA correction in the D300/D700, why not vignetting too -- it is just software.

Can Nikon do a firmware upgrade to D300/D700 since it is software.... :dunno:... like that no need come out new model so fast....

Looks like lots of people waiting for D700 price to fall... but few tempted to cross over to the other side of the pond. Seems many are disapointed on the other side -- perhaps Canon's marketing dept overdid it. The 5D MkII should have come equipped with an iPhone, GPS map, 7.1 channel sound, 12 fps, and maybe make coffee as well...

heh. i just need a full frame to enjoy my 50mms once again..

Let's hope so, but this is a major new feature, and Nikon has never added a new feature after the launch of a camera. Firmware updates are usually tweaks to solve problems that arise -- not to give you a nice new feature for free!

I hope Nikon can faster come out with the D800 or D3x with 24mp sensor....wack the 5dmk2 then D700 prices will drop like mad!
D300 users can standby to sell your gear already next year.

Some high ISO samples from the 5D2 for those interested... New 5D's ISO 6400 not as smooth as D700 (of course) but perfectly usable for a 21MP DSLR. Downsize to 12MP and I think it may even be close to D3/D700 standard. ISO 800 no issues... FF high 20+ MP is the way to go...

Judging from the responds from C camp, they weren't really impressed with the 5D2...

And a huge portion of those were sitting on the fence, waiting to see whether the 5D2 will thrash the D700 specs to specs before they decide.

So now the wait is over, a lot will jump to the D700. And those waiting for D700 price to fall when a superior 5D2 released will stop hoping for price drop and get the D700 ha ha...

This will most likely to cause a shortage so I think price will stay firm, at least until a stronger contender comes along.

On the other hand, the world economy not looking good with so many negative news floating around, price for ALL DLSR may fall across the board in the months to come :think:

5DMk2 cheaper than D700 yes.....but the money u save there will be going to buying more hard drives, bigger capacity CF cards, faster CPU & more RAM blah blah for those 21-megapix RAW files...LOL
And do people really need 21MP if they are just going to post their shots on Flickr or do some large prints occasionally? I have no reason to see why D700 should feel threatened by the 5Dmk2...
But good la...push the prices down somemore....going to wait for the day I can buy the D700 at 2k+

Hehe, let's say you saved up 4k for the D700 liao. Then suddenly D3 drop to 5k. The temptation of spending 1 extra K for a D3 is pretty seductive.

Aiya, buay tahan my job la. Basic so low. But looking at the economy now, i better wait and see.
