Looks almost like the D300!

Don't know if its me but I see a D3 size viewfinder on the D700 but the front is more like a D300? I would imagine the prism housing to be bigger.

if they gave this option with the D700, it will probably hurt the D3 and maybe even the D3x sales.

but you never know nikon. their marketing tactics have been pretty unpredictable in recent years.

No need so big prism. Even the F80/90 FF film bodies also quite compact.

i think the D700 was already pre-planned and they designed the D300 around the same chassis instead.

maybe the iso is more equivalent to D300 than D3 even though it's full frame.

it is due to the 'semi-pro status'.

only the top end Nikon 'professional' models will not come with build-in flash.

:think: no idea... i oni interested in the quality of the fotos.. battery lifespan.. high iso performance...
