Do check out these very large images from Sony Japan -- I can't find anything wrong with them. Now, when is Fuji going to come out with a FF 24MP Super CCD??? :(

Rgds,

Nothing's wrong with them. Just that I find the optics doesn't do justice to the first image at the periphery outside the APS-C frame. At the centre it is very sharp, so it's quite a compromise. The 2nd image is better. I believe it's the ZA 85/1.4 and it really shines when stopped down to f/4.5, even the edges are sharp enough even though I still find that the 24MP sensor has been short-changed.

it is just a matter of time. as mp gets higher, lens gets better. and sony is also trying to do its best to progressively coming out with new lenses. and already a few are designed with the A900 in mind

Till that day come when these high resolution lenses become affordable, I get faster machines with terabytes of storage, and I need that kind of resolution, I'll happily stick with 12MP first. ;p Not that I don't desire 24MP, but it's going to be like changing an entire system because you'll have to reinvest in lenses anyway. That's going to be a heck lot of money.

Not so fast... he later clarified that he sold them because they are big and bulky...

:bsmilie: i think you need to read carefully.. i wasnt the one who commented on the big/bulky aspect.

You sold all your ZFs? So I guess I shouldn't plan to buy any then.. ;p

yup. all. ;) sold my voig too :P but currently budgeting for a d700 + 50 f2 macro ZF. ;p

I guess, lets not be too techie about it. Photography is also a form of Art.

God is fair, whoever spend time to know their machine and Art will deliver Great result. This is one aspect money cannot buy.

Oops, my apologies. But important thing is you bought back a ZF! Ha!

The ZF Makro-Planar 50/2 is one of the ZF lenses in my radar screen. ;p Let me know if the lens resolution is able to outresolve the 12MP at the corners. ;)

I don't think the ZF can do that.12 MP is really alot.

Would rather have a "D3-noise-quality" FF Fuji:).
I don't really think 24 MP is that useful.

Maybe because you're not a pro and don't use the 24mp for work (I'm not saying all pros use 24mp or over 12mp but it depends on what you do really) . If you're out in the field or doing studio stuff you use a 50mp hasselblad and decent glass. So if 24mp is not useful then tell the pros who use a 50mp hassey. You may not think 24mp is useful but im sure there are heaps of people who would greatly appreciate it.

Yup I agree. But then again, why have so many MP, when the image churned out may not be good/similar to a 12mp?

more is usually good, as explained by asdfg

and as to whether image churn out good or no good, that is why i am telling ReignOfComputer not to think too much

in fact, not only to ReignOfComputer but to anyone... the only way to know good, no good, so so... etc is to buy when it is out and find out rather than think this, speculate that

haiz... the most if no good can always sell it off at a loss

i'll be camping waiting for your sales :)

unfortunately many are cautious consumers who debate in their thoughts a lot before spending the $$.

Hmm... sigh.. looks like not many lenses can outresolve 12MP FF at the corners then.. :( Maybe should get the Makro-Planar 120mm for Hass. instead ;p

All good news and everyone is happy..

Canon's (21MP) reply: "The EOS 5D Mark II is slated to ship towards the end of November 2008 at an expected street price of US$2699 " from http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/content_page.asp?cid=7-9316-9603 which of course makes the discussion about the 24MP Sony a bit "_________" at US$3K.. lovely.. waiting for Nikon's $ reponse by Christmas :) ... all in good timing..

good priceing form cannon

competition is good

If for me, I would prefer nikon, Be'cos i got nikon lenses :)

Dpreview has just posted some stunning ISO 200 shots from the Canon 5DMkII (beta). Amazing what 20+ megapixels can deliver in terms of centre resolution! But, as Isisaxon noted, the corner resolution leaves a bit to be desired, even with the best L lenses -- but only when viewed at 100%. I'm quite sure 20 x 30 prints would be jaw-dropping...

Rgds.
