So which CF card should I be going after. The Lexar 80x or the Sandisk UltraII

Whichever is cheaper. They're both around the same speed and the same reliability.

Other stuff I purchased with the D70:

For the CF card, Kingston at Eastgear is around 120$ for 1gig. I tested its speed is very very similar to Sandisk Ultra II which costs about 170$.

OEM battery (for backup, just in case...) costs about 35$.

Hoya HMC UV filter 35$.

Sigma 18-125 lens for D70 costs below 500$, if you prefer better zoom range.

You still didn't say how much you paid for the D70, Is it below $1365/-? ;p

All those who just bought the D70, i think currently the best card to buy is the 2GB Lexar 80X. Very good value and amongst the fastest card. Only S$299 for 2GB. At Eastgear : www.eastgear.com.sg

Nikon D70 is selling at 6100RMB. Rougly S$1220.
Looks like getting it in China is cheaper than Singapore.

What's the difference between that and paying $50-80 more for a set here in Singapore with valid local warranty?
I don't think bodies have International warranty.

Which portable storage should I got for to off load my images for long trips:
1. CompactDrive PD6X
2. X's-Drive Pro VP300

X-Drive Pro VP300 seems to be cheaper and with more feature. Was shock to see that it is also an MP3 player. However, the CompactDrive PD6X uses AA recharable batteries which is good for me as I have just stock up truck load of recharable AA batteries (2500 mAh). Not sure about the X-Drive as it says it has a built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery. Wonder what will happen if the Li-ion "konked" out.

since u mention "shock to see xdrive pro is also a mp3 player" i assume u dun need it.... get the compactdrive then.... heard the tx rate is faster n smaller n lighter.... i remember last time user of vp300 mention the batt life for using as mp3 player would be very short....

Comes with additional tripod, bag and vest. A pretty good buy I must say. Booth is manned by Alan Photo.

Bought my D70 today. Camera and kit lense only. Didn't go for the promotion package. This is because my boss is paying for the camera as my christmas gift.

Later found out that funan is having some promotion for those who spend more than $500 at funan get to buy an ipod for $50. The promotion is on 18/12 and 19/12.
