Did you(bigrockshow) turn on the Long exposure noise reduction (NR)?

erm..nope.

was not my intention to use 1600iso

i thought by using the manual dials on the fly would apply the settings but it did not apparently.

anyway if the long exposure NR is activated? would it affect all shots ?

If I'm not wrong, yes all shots will be once NR is on.

In fact it is just called Noise Reduction mode. There is no "Long exposure." So whatever shutter speed you set, NR mode will work.

I've never tried shooting with NR on. Because with NR on, the cam will lag for sometime before showing you the photo.

For long Exposure w/ tripod or gorillapad, I normally use ISO 200, F22 & bulb.
Some samples below, SOOC, No processing.

activating NR on will help reduce noise of the D70/s... but not if you're catching up with time like fireworks.

Not much difference actually. 2 main differences:

1) D70 has 1.8'' LCD screen. D70s has got 2.0'' LCD.

2) D70 cannot be connected to cable shutter release (thus remote release only). D70s can work with both.

Using a D70 hand-me-down from my bro who bought many many years and only recently encountered problem. Sent down to Nikon early this week and had to replace the CF pcb $54 plus servicing $120 and lens cleaning $80.
Is the price reasonable?

1. Yes, servicing is about that price.

2. I cannot comment on the CF Printed Circuit Board.

3. Since when is a D70 a lens?

Can a D90's battery and grip fits on D70?

Can MB-D80 and EN-EL3e fits on D70?

The D90 battery (EN-EL3e) can fit the D70.

The D90 grip (MB-D80) cannot fit the D70.

how do u converted to infrared ? I was thinking to sell or keep ? this is my first dslr cam, i had many nice foto, stil can't bear to sell it. and the filter for infrared where do u get it?

Hi XXXcat, i bought Hoya R72 (52mm size) and get someone 'experienced' from the CS's infrared section to have it cut, and then replaced the hot-mirror in my D70 with the cut-to-size R72.

Infrared filters come in different nm for example 650nm, 720nm ect. You need to know what you want to achieve in your infrared shots. More info are already posted in the stickies in CS's infrared section.

After you've considered, then you PM me and i will release his ctc to you :)

Great pictures!

thanks bro.
I still have my unit but already jumped to FX body.

Remember to off the VR on the lens for long exposure.

After almost 40,000 SCs, I have given my D70 away to a new beginner in SLR. It was not power crazy except power drains super fast in very cold situations. It was my very first dSLR and I still miss it fondly. Hold on to your work horse.

my shutter count is a proud 86,000+ and still kicking.... whew

but actually the max SC for D70 is 65535 and it resets back to zero.
