hi there, newbie here... is nikon capture 4.1 better than photoshop CS? aren't they doing similar things?

Capture's NEF raw file conversion is superior to Photoshop CS's. In fact, you need severe tweaking using Photoshop's Raw Converter to match the colour produced by Nikon Capture, or even Nikon View for that matter. However, Capture does not have any of the image manipulation tools that comes with Photoshop. You can't even do slight rotations of misaligned images.
