It's got a ring tone too....beep beep beep. Sounds better than my Nokia! :D

Hi everyone, I'm a slow newbie here...

I went to Alan Photo on weekend to demo the D70...and u know what, it just won't make ur coffee...Screw tat!!! ;(
Even Tandy can make u ur breakfast...

Just for the information of those newbies, please don't get scared away as long as you ask honest questions, instead of posting screaming and shouting and complaining that brand XYZ's product is complete rubbish. Especially when clearly it is operator and purchaser error rather than anything to do with the product.

This thread was started (not by me) in response to two such threads,

D70 caution #1: Hidden costs for flash!!

D70 caution #2: Preflash is NOT 'nearly-invisible'

If you're unsure about something, just ask, I guarantee you won't get jumped on. So you could go, "I'm trying to get my built in flash to trigger my off camera flashes but I'm struggling as the preflash ruins the exposure. Can anyone help?" Which will not elicit threads like this.

On the other hand you could go, Nikon is sh*te, the D70 is sh*te, they lied in their marketing, they told half truths, it's a rubbish camera, the preflash is taking us back to the stone age, they shouldn't have put it on, it's forcing me to spend more money, it's...

In which case, you get responses like these.

Hmm, maybe I should start D70 caution #4...

gosh, that troublesome, anyone wants to sell me his D70? the money can be use to pay a photographer to take pictures? I offer $400.00 for your used d70! :D

Actually, you both missed the worst part out. Believe it or not, it requires a photographer too before it will take pictures. Sad isn't it?

And if you want better pictures, you need to get a better photographer too.

OH THAT'S JUST GREAT!! like i thought this latest, newest, most advanced D70 (that everyone seems to be talking about) would make me the hottest thing in photography since perforated film. but since i, like have to get a better photographer as well, all my dreams have been shattered
... no wonder it's so cheap!

and it doesn't use film??!!! now what in the world am i going to do with the hundreds of rolls of film i bought in anticipation of this camera? maybe i can use in on my leicas and that would make me a "real photographer". :sweatsm:

Nah, real photographers build their own LF cameras and mix their own colloidal emulsions... They don't buy film. Only amateurs buy film.

If the real photogs build their own, the amatuers buy films, then those who use filmless cameras (read: DSLR/Digicams) must be the real losers, alias slow nubees...

What are you all talking about, I bought this D70 back home and my wife says it is too light, than I went back to the shop and add all the flash and lens and again it would not work. Than I realised that you have to put something else inside it for it to work properly. Wah a $2100 door stop that does not comes with cement and have to put my own. Now I am a happy man, it work after the cement thing. They should have say cement not included on the box.

Help... why my D70 would print out the photos I shoot??? Was told that it function just like a Polariod camera, can see the pics after I take!!! But to my horror, been trying hard to find the slot where the pictures would come out...

BTW anyone have any idea how much and when and how to refill the polariod film pack in the D70, the manuals just did mention that!
:D :D :D

Damn them, it requires these pesky digital CF cards..... why didn't anyone mention this ?

<tounge in cheek>

Good one! :bsmilie:

Bought it because it's a Nikon !! ;)

personally, i think that you guys are making a mistake, that would obviously include nikon. with cement and stuff you are definately going to ruin the d70, that i can fully assure you.

the d70 does for a fact function as a camers. it's actually a phone with a built in camera.

the very obvious flaw is the very obvious lack of numerical key pad. the slot for the sims card is a bit too big. therefore i would urge you to petition nikon. If they decide to jump into the fray and manufacture phones, they need to know that they require a keypad. the sims card issue is easily solved, just wrap it in masking tape over and over again till it's a good fit and viola! it fits!

although i have yet to understand how to make phone calls, i attribute this to the lack of antenna, yet another obvious cost cutting measure. for the mo, set the zoom to 70 and focus on your subject's lips. for better reception, the 80-200vr would be in order.

if you're planning on driving at the same time, might i suggest the d2h, it's compatible with wireless headsets.

it's so small for a fridge.. how to fit a coke can in?

caution: its a nikon... *pokepoke*...*runs* heex :blah:
