From what i'm reading on the net, I kinda get the impression that backfocusing is not limited to close (1-5m) distances. Apparently, you may have perfect focusing at closer distances, but focusing at infinity sometimes may not be as sharp as it is supposed to be, due to misaligned CCD, or what not. Therefore, tests with the test chart may not be able to identify all backocus problems? Would anyone who has technical knowledge of the ways dSLRs focus be able to clarify whether this is plausible? Or maybe because at longer distances, more likely to be camera shake, user error, wrong fstop etc etc???
