Yes that is one of the cons I had when thinking of purchasing the d600. All other fx bodies have that AE-L function and a exclusive AF-L button also. If Nikon had put those functions on the d600....actually no difference to nikon, I still end up purchasing ;p

I don't use the AF-L can you share when do you use it vs shutter release button

Actually I don't use it. The ae-l/af-l button I set it to ae-l. Cos like you mentioned, I can use the shutter release for af. But! If the d600 had that option, I would definitely use a exclusive af-l button(more firm maybe? No need to half press). And my default focusing mode I use is af-s I recompose after I focus in the middle So I lock af quite abit.

Just wondering if anyone has done this here. Came across this review and in it this was mentioned...

"If I had to complain about one thing, it would be the viewfinder on the D600. I am more comfortable with the round eyepiece of the D700 and D800. With a little extra cost, I can replace the rubber eye cup on the D600 and put on a Round Eyepiece."

How do we change it from the rectangular to a round eyepiece? Is it as simple as a slot in method or does this person's method require a modification of sorts?

Here, you can get the eyepiece at $65 which is worth the money

Thought it was straight forward...

Turn the switch to the right where the marker meets the lightbulb sign. Its not supposed to stay in that position though. When you release the grip, the switch will spring back to "on" position.

So your d600 LCD can be light up via this flip? Mine can't

Take note only the TOP LCD lights up. Not the one at the back.

Do you have adjust the WB?

Nope. Didn't really compare the images from other cameras, just my own perception :D

Ok, if slightly warmer and look more rich :)

Yes I also notice that but it's only on the LCD once you transfer the image it's still warmer compared to d700 but more acceptable compared to what you see on LCD. Some also say some units have same issue with d800 LCD where you will see a green tint on the LCD but not on the actual image but they say it will be gone after some time. I guess you will just be used to WB of d600.
