@Gabriel@ you can check out Nikon SG-3IR. Or something DIY, to block built-in flash influencing your exposure

Remember to set your built in flash to -- not TTL in cmd mode if you only want build in flash to trigger external flash.
I did, but what I want is for off camera flash to trigger only... I think its not possible without a remote trigger....

I find i strange that nikon does not solve it software style, or a built in remote, or is there a limitation that I am missing? Thanks for the recommendation! I guess its a pretty good solution already

Haha bro, seems like you got issue with having the built in flash popping up. Frankly if it can get the job done without interfering with your final exposure, it does not matter that it needs to be fired to trigger the off shoe flash :)

Nikon does have some wireless triggers which you can buy to trigger the off shoe flash, but I will not waste money on that if the built in flash can do the same job and you are on a single strobe almost all the time. I guess as of now, almost all models of cameras in the market needs the built in flash fired in order to trigger the off shoe flash, so you are not the only one who face this issue. Serious strobist will equip themselves with more accessories anyway and therefore it's not a hindrance to them also. :)

The built in flash needs to fire to "tell" the off camera flash to fire. You could reduce the power down to 1/128 iirc and that should not interfere with your exposure. Otherwise, a simple name card should help block the flash from hitting your subject yet allows it to communicate with your off camera flash.

Ya, I'm not a serious strobist(yet!) i was just bugged when I was trying to manipulate the lighting by taking my speed lite off camera and the pop up flash threw my exposure off.

But hey, the great thing is that I learnt a few new things through this experience and really really helpful CSers!

This is at best, splashproof with a bit of luck, not waterproof. If its waterproof, you should be able to submerge it in water without causing any damage.

Ha ha just surprise you all in good comments.
But the photos is not mine.
I am pose from someone did it only :)

The WU-1b still not available, l've asked a few shops at Funan and Cathay Photo.

Alternatively, get a set of Phottix Odin receiver and transmitter if you want radio triggers instead of optical trigger.

As long not heavy pouring rain the camera with weather seal won't catch a cold don't worry, only zoom lens we got be careful if we are not using pro lenes. I only cover the lens with hand while walking in rain with lens facing down to avoid front element and focus/zoom ring getting too wet when I'm traveling, unless really heavy rain and I know I won't shoot.

HELP!

I'm shooting night scene and needs the LCD screen to be lit up. Based on past D90 experience, I flip the power switch to the "light bulb" symbol - BUT only the top LCD screen lit up, but not the back panel LCD!!

I had combed through the manual, and confirm it should light up on pg 215, but it didn't.

Can the other D600 users help to do a quick test to see if this is common to all - or I kanna a lemon?

Bro the light bulb symbol is only meant to light up the top panel.

If you need more brightness in the LCD screen, go to menu and adjust it.

If you want to look at the controls on the LCD screen before shooting, press the button below the live view switch. (info button)

Coming from D700 to D600. Both in M mode with auto ISO on and external flash SB900 on for both camera, I notice that in D700 if i set to ISO800 it will stay as ISO800 even background is dark but for D600 it will jump to ISO2000 or more if background is too dark.
Mind sharing your experience.
