D600 Do You Have Spot/Oil Issue?

For those coming from Canon and have moved to Nikon, how do you find the skin tone of your portrait shots? I personally I find it reddish - yellowish. Not natural as compared to Canon's (I used 40D and 5D Mk2 before). Is there any quicker way of fixing this aside from post processing?

I'm even too lazy to zoom and check for dust on my set.

Even more sure cos I'll be lazier to send it in for 'fix'.

Just leave it be until one day I realise it's very bad. Anyway 1 year's warranty, abuse the shutter first, then go change a new one. Haha.

That's why I didn't buy it in Singapore. Buy it online in a country with customer protection and you can get a refund, no questions asked.

"New one" = New shutter. Why let some oil spots break the fun in shooting?

frankly speaking, I'm not sure how bad the oil spots are. some says visible at F8, some says only F16 etc..Some says those "really bad spot shots" are overlay of multiple shots..

wish we have refund options..$2500 is a lot money, don't want my dear wife blah blah me every time I take photos of her..haha

Yeah I know, in Japan this doesn't seem to be a problem. So far my Japanese D600 is still clean, no issue.

The only concern some folks might have is Japanese Nikon cameras only offer 2 language options, Japanese and English, but that's a non-issue for me.

Do we even shoot at f/8 f/16 that often? I mean there's dust on all sensors, we cannot avoid, is it bad until f/1.4 - f/32 it also appears in every shot taken? Anybody realised the dirt was specific on the top left corner mostly and not really in the center?

There's always the clone tool to remove the spots if there are any. Of course this is my perspective. I don't earn a lot, $2500 is a lot of money to me, but on a D600, I think it's money well spent.

My sensor is dirty, but so far, have not really needed to clone the dirt away even when I'm shooting at f/8.

Not again... Not every person has time to fix every single photo in PS and some folks shoot above f/8 every time they use the camera. Anyways, this isn't about dust.

Thing is, I also shoot at f/8 and above most of the time on D600. I find the need to PS the dots are like 1 in 100 or so?

I do have that many images in a shoot, but I don't think all would be shooting the same scene for over thousand frames. If it really bothers the photographer having the spots in the same image over a thousand frames, then I think either the photographer should re-look at why is he shooting the same frame x 1000s and should not be using a D600 but a D800 or D4 as an option.

I am trying to see the magnitude of this problem and so far how has NSC do about it, whether did we need to dig out pockets for those spots removal

The result was negative. There you are I have mention earlier that not all Nikon are affected by the first shipment that send to USA & Europe our Asia shipment was the 3rd shipment so far not all are affected. I am the lucky one.

Right, all cameras with serial numbers starting with 8 are from the 3rd shipment. Makes a lot of sense. lol

My shutter count is only <300, lots of dust at the top left corner. Bought on the last day of March at funan. Serial number is 804****. Sian!

BTW, how many times can we have the NSC to clean the sensor for free within warranty period? The seller, S**R shop told me only once for FREE, from 2nd time onwards will be charged. About $100+ per time. Is this true?
